Single (1963) Beatles 'She Loves You'
Long Player (1970) Simon & Garfunkel 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'
As kids we were poor in those days unlike children nowadays with their Nike clothing, mobiles, TV's, Pc's, etc
I could only afford to buy albums when I started employment in 1970.

Great Sweet single mate, arguably their best!
Being a little older I was into Deep Purple before you, 'In Rock' was one of my early LP purchases in 1970 in fact it was my first heavy rock album I bought.
I also bought 24 Carat Purple on vinyl, never replaced it on CD although I have another compilation & live bootleg by Purple

He probably thinks Bowie stole it from the Sweet then
Re: 1st single(45) & 1st Album (33) you bought....
Can't really remember buying owt tbh. Dipping into my Mum & Dads singles box i remember playing these 45s alot.
Ben E King: Stand by me, and even more so after the film of the same name. Along with the Goonies 2 of my favourite kids films.
Jim Diamond: I should have known better? Looking back maybe i should.
Ram Jam: Black Betty. The PC brigade would be all over that today.
Bronski Beat: Small time boy
Ian Dury and the blockheads: I used to find the b-side to Hit me with your rhythm stick great.
First Albums to make an impact. My Dad liked Queen, my older Bro liked the Police.
I bought Genesis Invisible Touch and played it to death. A bit later i loved the dark moods of Violator by Depeche Mode.

Re: 1st single(45) & 1st Album (33) you bought....
Sometimes 'b' sides were better than the 'a' sides
Just a few I recall
'Suffragette City' (Starman) Bowie
'Things We Said Today' (A Hard Days Night) Beatles
'The Snow Queen' (Don't Go Breaking My Heart) Elton & Kiki
Only my opinion though!
Sweet b sides were totally different to their a sides, very much hard rock

One of our two cats was called Felix, sadly not with us anymore
He was a proper Felix just like the one you saw on the telly
Yes liggy we didn't have much in those days but as kids we were happy & never demanded anything from our parents because Johnny down the road had one, mind you Johnny didn't have much too

Re: 1st single(45) & 1st Album (33) you bought....
I was always under the impression, as a lurker for many years, that the age range was much younger on here. Reading the above posts I get the impression I was wrong!
My first single, bought as a thirteen year old, was 'Hole In My Shoe', Traffic, 1967...seems I fit in!

Heidi was fascinated with the racing post site that featured a horse jumping over a fence in one of their adverts
And playing scrabble
