Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £40m.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a huge admirer of the Netherlands international, 23, and has had him watched on a number of occasions.

It is understood United have now firmed up their interest with a medical and personal terms still to be concluded.

Ben White has signed a new four-year contract until June 2024.

My word, they really are in a tail spin over selling Diangana. The fee does seem ridiculously low considering the fleecing Brighton wanted to give us to get their loan player. Also interesting to see how the Irons support recognize WBA as a relegation rival and the damage this transfer does to that fight.

I do feel sorry for West Ham. They’ve always had top passionate support, not glory hunters like many in London, their owners are a joke ( something we know only too well in our recent history) and they’ve lost their spiritual home moving to that athletics facility. They look to be in real trouble before the season even starts.

Fair play to Mark Noble having the balls to speak out. Cant remember any of our Captains speaking out in the past.
