Re: Stuart Dallas
This the same Alio that works his butt off game in game out when he plays, fights to the last second and has more than enough creativity to be a constant attacking threat. I don't think Alio is very good defender but he compensates by being a very good man to have in the trenches..He's pulled more games out of the fire or got us back into games than anyone else I can think of...Right wing by trade he's been happily playing where needed ..

I get that Faaip. But history confirms that success is built on a solid defence, and Dallas scores far higher in that department whilst still providing a degree of attacking intent.faaip wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 3:54 pm This the same Alio that works his butt off game in game out when he plays, fights to the last second and has more than enough creativity to be a constant attacking threat. Re: Stuart Dallas
A far better player in my opinion, obviously Bielsa feels the same
Dallas has become one of the best full-backs in the championship, Marcelo has improved Dallas defensively, movement off the ball & his all round game.

Re: Stuart Dallas
To be fair to Dallas had picked up a knock & was struggling just as KP was v Reading, both players who never feign injuries & are prepared to fight for the cause even when they are injured

Re: Stuart Dallas
alio had consistently bad games at left back a few games back - I'd rather have douglas there than alioski who for me is not a full back and is better off being used as an impact subfaaip wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 6:46 pm It was the trenches line, of the two I'd rather have Alio in the trenches battling when the chips are down. Dallas less likely to turn a game. I'm ok with either at LWB tbh, for me they're both good there as as a wing back you need to be creative and Dallas isn't that creative, I also think Alio/Harrison playing off each other is something we missed until he came on for Kalvin v Reading. Dallas does look vulnerable v skillful/pacey right wingers imo, QPR tore him a new one as CJay mentioned we had to bring on Alio to cope
Horses for courses and I think MB would love to be able to start Gianni. Right now he's our 12th man though and I can't complain

Problem is we don't use impact subs as a team

Re: Stuart Dallas
And again not the primary job of a wing back to defend, it's a 50/50 thing with attacking as important. We don't use full backs

Terrific pro Stuart Dallas .
Yes we're seeing that this season '64 but also the green shoots of last season under Beisla have sprung up and show how he has developed into a tough, cultured and highly consistent performer..and he's having a great season is Stuart.Well done fella.

Re: Stuart Dallas
It was mixed for me today. Didnt think he got involved much in that midfield role, although that shot scooped from under his body was impressive. Seeemd to do a lot more going forward when he moved to the LWB. Really impressive in the 2nd half.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 3:55 pm Thought Stuart was brilliant today....9/10

Full credit to him today (definitely should have scored) but he was immense.
Never been his biggest fan but was superb today.
Fully deserves to be in the motm thread.

Being able to watch games from this season has definitely given me a much better idea of how our regulars play.paddy parrott wrote:

Re: Stuart Dallas.....Darren Fletcher on SD's performance
Pretty much what he does week in week out.
All action and if you remember the Derby playoff game he was the one showing real balls when needed.
Agreeded he can get caught out defensively, along with Ayling but I think that's part and parcel of what they are being asked to do.

Re: Stuart Dallas
Absolutely spot on... Most under rated player in the league at the moment But not by Leeds fans
And as Mick says ...
Absolutely, and those who do not see that, do not understand the modern game...Risk v rewardAgreed he can get caught out defensively, along with Ayling but I think that's part and parcel of what they are being asked to do.

Re: Stuart Dallas
Never had doubts about Dallas since he moved to RB and then LB in the championship. We were better than everyone else in the championship and could afford to have attacking players back there. Remains to be seen whether he'll be defensively good enough for the premiership but the signs so far are good. He plays on the wrong side but he does have a decent left foot too, so it never seems to be a handicap.
I never saw him play in the central midfield role last year, but the reports and the ratings were never great. I'm not sure whether to trust those or not though because he put in a really good first half performance there yesterday. Surprsisingly though, it was in the 2nd half when he moved to an inverted LWB that he threatened even more going forward. More than anything he just seems to exude the fluidity of our style of play. I mean, he's playing LWB and ends up rounding the keeper on the right side (???) at one point. I think it just shows how difficult Bielsa's system is to lear and why seasoned players are so valuable.
A real asset. Looks like we'll be adding another central midfielder, but from LWB or RWB, Dallas offers us a lot of tactical flexibility and options.
Dallas, Stuart
