The trouble was it wasn't a video of his mess ups it was a video of the goals conceded this year and whilst obviously some were unsaveable there were an awful lot that should have been saved. That isn't knocking BPF it is just stating the obvious. Just because he is young, homegrown etc doesn't mean he is blameless. Like you say he is out of his depth so why should we even be talking about him as our no1?whiteswan wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 12:07 am And still our fans want to knock young Bailey.....why? Because a comical post was posted about Kiko? Tit for tat maybe? Who can find the best videos of our (OUR's remember) keepers mess ups? I make no wonder the kid wants to move away from Elland Road.......However, I do agree with some of the comments re young Bailey.....he isn't ready yet, and certainly wasn't ready at the beginning of last season. I kept saying so.....time and time again....My beef was always about the unfair criticism by our own supporters of a very young man, still learning his trade and out of his depth. The management were the ones to blame for putting him in that unenviable position. He did his best, (which wasn't too bad really) and that's all we can ask in that situation. Kiko came in and I really thought that we had now got a top class keeper. I thought that young Bailey could learn a lot from him. Kiko made some silly decisions, which cost us games some of which obviously divided the fans. Hopefully, we will get the position of goalkeeper remedied (by whatever means) for next season.

Good point that Bailey isnt a sweeper keeper, perhaps he could be developed that way.Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 10:21 pm Imo it doesnt matter if BPF is a good keeper or not because he isnt a sweeper keeper.
MB wants a sweeper keeper, our style demands it.
Kiko imo 75% of the time gets his judgement spot on when coming off his line and that is vital, the keeper has to be willing to take that risk, BPF isnt at this stage.
Joe Hart was a top class keeper but didnt suit the style so Pep got rid, it happens.
Kiko for better or worse is the sort of keeper our style demands, BPF is not.
Thats not to say he wont become a good sweeper keeper one day, but at this time, next season, he isnt that keeper now and he isnt going to change that any time soon imo.
What about Huffer and Miazek? They have both been offered extensions to their contracts, what style are they?
Cjay I would suggest and high experienced keeper like Kiko getting it right 3 times out of 4 a poor return for a keeper. Really poor.

It may be possible to develop BPF that way but that relies on him being patient, if he is serious about him being off if he isnt number 1 then he has to be off, we cant risk him in what will be our last chance with MB imo.Irish Ian wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 12:12 pm Good point that Bailey isnt a sweeper keeper, perhaps he could be developed that way.

Miazek seems decent but dont know enough about him or Huffer tbf.
3 out of 4 is pretty good considering our level, you put Kiko behind a back 4 who are used to the sweeper keeper role then he would be fine. Cant be forgotten he had a very good reputation in Spain, well respected in Spain even by Real Madrid fans who wished him well.
Nothing wrong with Kiko imo, Cooper does his job properly vs Derby and this wouldn't even be up for debate.
Do you see a new goalie as one of our main issues Ian?

Re: Bailey Peacock-Farrell
Cjay I thought it was an issue we had addressed last January with the signing of Kiko.
Everyone agreed that we needed to strengthen in that area, and I believe that Kiko has been a plus, especially when we were conceding from corners.. That might be a stat worth looking at but from my perspective we seem more solid defending set pieces.
But and it is a huge But.
I dont think Kiko overall has improved the side enough, so would like to see the back of him. Someone said that what the club are paying him is an issue, but surely 30k ( or was it 50k?) isnt value for money. For that money I think we could do better.
Something else too.
Maybe we could look at this from Baileys angle.
After coming through the youth system at Leeds he was handed a first team slot in 2018. Many Mom awards. Young Player of the Year.
He makes his Nat debut. Last season he was first choice keeper. Along comes Kiko.
But when Bailey was sidelined we were Top of The League. We had never been outside the top 2.
You wonder what was going through his mind as he saw the decline, saw Kiko and his errors?
No wonder he has been so robust in his comments about playing first team football.
But our Priorities imo.
MB needs to a decide if the U23s have anyone ready for the seniors and use them.
Halme, Shacks, Clarke, Pearce, Diaz, even Bogusz. Can these guys be more than bench warmers? Full squad members who are used in a proper rotation ( which is MBs weakness imo)
Can these guys replace whoever we sell so we have cash to invest elsewhere in the squad?
Dunno

He probably isn't but he's young enough to learn, but that's an aside. I will say the BPF's distribution was far superior to purported sweeper/keeper Weidwald, who also struggled to keep.Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 10:21 pm Imo it doesnt matter if BPF is a good keeper or not because he isnt a sweeper keeper.

Sweeper keepers also have to keep first be a sweeper second. As Wing backs have to know how to defend...Our greatest wing back Terry Cooper was a defender first.

But as harsh as it sounds i think in some ways we were where we were in spite of him, not because of him.
He was a weak link, it sounds harsh but he made me so nervous and i still think had he not come after such terrible goalies he would have got a lot more criticsm then he did after coming in last season. He benifited from not being Felix or Lonners, so he had that good grace originally, but had he came in after Green or Kasper then i think the young man wouldn't have had that grace.
Kiko doesnt make me nervous strange as it sounds, for better or worse he isnt indecisive, Bailey is and that is the worst trait in a goalie for me (understandable because of his age ).
If you go back and look at the Kiko thread it was very positive largely, i think Kiko is unfortunate because the team got worse after him, we scored far less frequently.
Kiko i think actually conceded less per game then BPF, just coincided with us scoring less which you cant blame him for.
£30k a week is a lot but realistically who could we get better?
Agree on the u23s and MB's weakness, he relied on to many average old heads when we had u23s firing on all cylinders.
Its a frustration that i hope he changes but i doubt it.
Have a horrible feeling we are going to get recruitment very wrong again tbh, just this niggling voice that tells me we will not do enough and will pay for it.

Definitely better then Felix and Lonners.
They do, BPF has potential and room to grow if he is patient.
We have to few natural defenders for me, more then a goalie we dont have enough very good natural defenders, sort that out first imo should be a priority.

Re: Bailey Peacock-Farrell
LEEDS UNITED are in the market for a goalkeeper after agreeing a deal with Burnley to sell Northern Ireland international Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
The Premier League side have agreed to stump up £3.5m for the 22-year-old, who wanted guarantees of first team football that aren’t forthcoming at Elland Road presently, with Kiko Casilla nailing down the position as Marcelo Bielsa’s preferred option in goal.
The Whites are expected to bring in a replacement for Peacock-Farrell before the transfer window shuts next Thursday at 5pm.
Burnley, who weren't the only Premier League side to look at the stopper, were able to to free up some cash by agreeing to the sale of Tom Heaton, their number one for the second half of last season, to Aston Villa.
The deal includes a sell on clause.
Peacock-Farrell's contract at Elland Road is up next summer.

£23mil received.
£15mil losses from last season paid for.
Loan fees all covered, plus Bielsas wages and his staff.
3 mil loan fees, about £4mil for MB and his staff, all fits perfectly and another player will be sold next season to fund Costa if we dont go up.
This isnt me being negative incidentally its just what Radz past seasons show. He doesnt fund the club from his own pocket, the sales fund the club.
No way he is covering last seasons losses plus Costa so logically thats why we are raking in the cash and not spending it.

Yes - and that is how a proper football club should be run. If wages etc run at more than the club generates from selling tickets, merchandising, tv etc then the only way of breaking even is player sales. 2 clubs on my doorstep, Bury and Bolton, facing uncertain futures because they didn't bring in enough revenue to cover expenses. Why should a football club be any different to other businesses that are meant to actually generate a profit?

If Radz bought us expecting profit with minimum investment and promotion then he was dreaming.
Doesnt happen, Wolves, Brighton, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Fulham, Newcastle, between the 6 of them they posted losses during their promotion seasons of over £200mil, at least 3 of them were also hugely bankrolled by their billionaire owners to and still they posted losses.
EFL clubs lose money, even those fortunate to have owners willing to cover the losses and inject huge finance lose money hand over fist.
As you say the only way to generate profit is sell players but unfortunately for us the clubs that do that rarely ever get promoted,Norwich were the exception but even Blades posted a £10mil loss in their last accounts.
If Radz wants a profit history tells us that it requires investment from the owner on a large scale to get to the Prem, thats not my negativity thats just factual.
If an owner is unwilling to do that and sells to buy chasing a profit in the EFL then they are chasing the ultimate dream, promotion, cheaply with minimal investment from them.
That is something that very very rarely happens and that is my long winded answer lol.
What you suggest and what im sure Radz want is basically impossible.
Promotion, minimal investment and profit while outside of the Prem is not likely.

Some good news for the Leeds United shop
Leak-blunt signs professional terms
With Conor signing that contract, it means that all the hyphens that the Leeds United shop had manufactured to sell with the Peacock-Farrell shirts may not be wasted.

Good move for all involved, decent fee too, you’d expect burnley to loan him out, he wants game time, we can get a keeper of similar quality with more experience to sit on the bench for a low enough fee, allowing us to get a decent CB in, I’d be content with how we stand squad wise then, a 10 would be good too, time running out though

Not really 64 to be honest. Quite calm and pleased for the lad. I did write on this very forum a while ago for him to go and find a club where the supporters would get behind him. He deserves better treatment that some of our fans have given him. I'm pleased the young lad is away from all the vitriol some of the Leeds Utd fans spewed on him, when really it wasn't his fault he was chucked in at the deep end.....our owners were to blame for that.
I will follow his career as avidly as if he was playing for Leeds, and hope he becomes a great, great goalkeeper. Go on young Bailey....prove all your critics and doubters wrong.....
Hope it isn't another Lukic, Seaman, Carson c**k up once again...but I wont hold my breath. Go young Bailey GO!!!!!

Re: Bailey Peacock-Farrell - FEE AGREED !!!!
Looks like an excellent bit of business with a keeper many of us have doubts about. He may well eradicate errors from his game and go on to be an excellent keeper but no matter what I don't think he will ever become a sweeper keeper so wouldn't fit in at Leeds unless we changed our style. Sean Dyche, at Burnley, has shown he prefers a straightforward keeper having previously snapped up Joe Hart who found himself in a similar position to BPF as in he was at a club that wanted a sweeper keeper and as such he didn't fit.
One huge plus that BPF has going for him is has been his ability to not let a mistake affect him for the rest of that game. He has made mistakes but then done well in games which shows he is tough mentally - contrast it to Rabchuka for Leeds who made a mistake and then had a nightmare game or two as he couldn't recover from it. Will be interesting to see where BPF ends up going on loan.
