Leeds V Sheffield United Team/Reports/Ratings

Post by Cjay »

Thought i would be helpful :-D

Leeds welcome fellow Promotion candidates and Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United to Elland Road on Friday night.

After a spirited performance in the week against the former Champions, and a truly exceptional performance last Saturday against Bristol City, TC and crew should be full of confidence.

But Sheffield United to come here full of confidence, back to back home wins against Reading, and before that Ipswich town, and one of only 2 teams to beat league leaders Wolves this season in the league, the red side of Sheffield are a good side, and will provide a stern test.

Playing a flexible 3-5-2 formation and containing bags of work rate, energy and talent, Chris Wilder has done a brilliant job during his time.

So, which side will TC select, will he revert to 4-2-3-1, or stick to 4-3-3, who will start, and can we win :-D

Id go with that, leaving Pablo and Pontus out seems like madness, but think that may be best.

View on there forum is they struggle if teams exploit the space behind there wingbacks, pulls cbs out of position, room for midfield runners etc.

Same starting lineup as Bristol with Anita in for Berra.....CBJ did ok in his performance the other night but not sure if he's fit or even if it was enough to stick him ahead of Anita in any case.

It's amazing how views can change so quickly in football. Only last Saturday this team, (with exception of LB), had the majority of people scratching their heads in disbelief. Not a criticism, it is what it is, this would be my pick too

Think about it.
. . . . . . . . Lonners . . . . . . . . . .
Ayling . . Penny . Cooper . Anita

. . . . O,Kane. .Ronnie. phillips
.Ali . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Saiz
. . . . . . . . . Lassy. . . . . . . . . .

Similar to Bristol.

Sheff utd fans talk about how important there 3 cms are, Duffy, Fleck, Couts.

So match then up.

Risky but leave the wingers pushed up, that means either there wingbacks have to stay back, forcing them to play narrow, or they bomb forward, leaving Ali and Saiz space.

Moving Phillips up inbetween Saiz & Alioski to press the Robins back-four & playing Vieira in the defensive midfield role was key & a inspired move from Christiansen

Good to see you posting regularly Azkal

Jansson playing TUE kinda precludes him but we must get him back in as soon as possible..

Nobody deserves to be dropped from the team that beat Bristol and similarly nobody really did enough v Leicester to merit taking anyone's place so the only place up for grabs is left back. If CBJ is fit I would put him in as it gives more balance having a natural left footer there. There seemed to be question marks leveled against CBJ's attitude after the Burnley match but he did well v Leicester so if it is some mental problem rather than physical that has held him back then hopefully it has been sorted out. If CBJ isn't fit then the obvious choice is Anita.

Three at the back always makes me nervous, remember the muppet (Ferdinand)'s first game for us??

I'd go with the same as most, Bristol team but CBJ or Anita at LB
