Re: Nottingham Forest v Leeds United - Match Thread
Just got in from work. Couldn't get a signal at the aiport hanger. Managed to finish with 10 minutes left so got news of the goal on my drive home. I suppose we will be happy with the 3 points right? I'll try grab a repeat of the game somewhere. Can't comment on anything as I saw nothing. I know we were better first half is all. I'm happy. All my family barr 1 are Forest fans...

It's competition for places Leon, and whoever plays best gets the shirt.
Not a good thing when players know they are guaranteed to start, that's been the case here for many years.

How did we do in open play 2nd half?
Set piece goal.
Did we look a threat?
Were we still really open?
Would be nice to hear that improved as well

Yeah healthy competition is what is needed - and importantly players that the manager feels he can trust. As shown with James Justin even as a 'back up' you can make 20+ starts. I think even without making selection choices our 4th centreback will get double figure starts.White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 4:27 pm It's competition for places Leon, and whoever plays best gets the shirt.

Would expect Elvedi to start on Tuesday.

It was scrappy second half. We looked as much a threat as them. They had more possession but it did seem every loose ball fell their way. We generally weren't open, think there were just a couple of occasions where Forest managed to create something from open play. An overlap down our left resulting in a cross coming in and a throughball to Wood who shot wide from outside the area.

A couple from set pieces ie Muha but not much else.
Looked pretty comfortable at the back overall.
They had more possession I’d guess.

2nd half was 50/50.
We had good spells and then they would get on the front foot. Seemed to yo-yo back and forth.
Our wing backs were deep and didn’t push on. We were away from home of course.
Both sides looked evenly matched and mid table contenders. They missed a couple of chances.
We definitely lack creativity but we all know that.
I really like Trafford and our back three. Great platform to build from.
Think Farke would have taken a point beforehand.
He was in bonus territory today

It is the same whenever we make a signing - usual rush to post about which player he will replace in the starting 11. It is a squad game - Elvedi will be playing the cup game, we shall what he is about then.
The all too frequent line about players not coming to sit on the bench. We are not signing players to sit on the bench we are signing players capable of playing themselves into the starting 11.

We've only had one game and players are lacking match sharpness. Making countless changes would be lunacy.DDB220 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2026 5:35 pm It is the same whenever we make a signing - usual rush to post about which player he will replace in the starting 11. Re: Nottingham Forest v Leeds United - Match Thread
Just watched the full match on replay after missing it live earlier. Very scrappy game with neither team really standing out from the other. As mentioned by others, Florist appeared to have more possession and the loose balls falling to them, but our back line never really looked too troubled outside of set pieces, where we were as much of a handful as they were. Would like us to get a number 10 for more creativity for these type of games, though I can see Wilson will be a decent foil off DCL when he sharpens up and stays inside. Also Okafor deserves a mention who did look a menace off the bench and made a good effort to defend too (even if he did make one mistake, at least he tried).
Overall, a decent enough start to the season, with a handy win on the road (we only won twice away last season afaik), particularly at a ground we don't usually shine at. I think we should be a solid mid table team this year if we stay clear of injuries. Onwards and upwards.

2-0 Lorimer and Clarke with the goals.. Technically we've beaten them since in Nottingham but not at the top level
