My son-in-law is a doctor who just completed his residency and was on emergency room rotations in NYC. He says the Pitt is quite realistic.

Here in the US, where so many people are uninsured, a significant portion of our population will not seek treatment for medical issues until their conditions become acute. As a result, emergency rooms get overwhelmed, especially in places with a large less-than-affluent population.

In the UK, and almost all other civilized nations where health care is everyone's right, people can see physicians before their medical issues become severe and the burden on emergency rooms is lowered significantly.

GP's are the menace here now ... impossible to get appointments and they are happier sending you straight to hospital. My surgery is now mainly phlebotomists, nurses, pharmacists and a few specialists for mental health, heart smart, asthma clinic etc. I doubt there's many more than one GP on site any given time

The bit where they had to decompact a bloke had me gagging and looking away as crap sprayed everywhere. The kid with the firework injury was tough too

Just the type of brilliant TV we can't make in this country.. all hail Noah Wylie, who I think part wrote, drirected, produced and acted in it.. TBH it took me a while to realise it was him, barely recognisable under that beard... And I've seen Falling Skies twice

Might be like that in the US, but staff in the UK are generally calm on the outside as to not upset patients according to wifey.

Just started watching The Lady In The Lake, an Apple TV drama set in the mid 60’s Baltimore, the first two episodes are just setting the scene, hopefully it will kick on in the third episode.

Some brutal scenes, to be sure. They don't shy away from it, which I appreciate.
