Interesting to know if any of our posters that are saying to walk away from the Shea Charles deal were slaggint he club off last season when Sunderland were paying a bit extra and getting the players that we were interested in but 'walked away from' when the asking price got too high.

Shea Charles is a decent but unproven Championship midfielder who plays for a poor international side.

Habib Diarra for example was a regular for a number of seasons for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 and for Senegal a fairly high quality international side.

One had evidence he could compete at the top level one doesn't.

So one justified a bit of a stretch one doesn't imo.

I think £20mil is absolute top price for Charles imo and even that is pushing it

Think we need to comb further through the Bundesliga ranks for other Stach and Tanaka-type finds. We’ve had a reasonably good hit rate there and the pricepoints have been absolute steals.

It's getting embarrassing how obsessed we are with Charles, he really isn't all that. I'll be honest, I haven't heard his name pop up much if he's so good.

Brighton stuck out for £50 million, and got it from Arsenal. One of the EPL teams will pay the asking price, so we either pay that, or just move on.

Brighton seem to drive a hard bargain and get what they want, whereas we get obsessed with one target then someone more decisive swoops in and says "Cheers, I'll have that".

With the money we spent on Llorente, Koch, James and Aaronson, etc, with hindsight I'd say that we'd have been better stumping up the cash for White.

But no guarantee that he would come to Leeds anyway.

Koch was excellent, Llorente was a good right sided CB but never played there apart for the start of his career at ER where he won MOTM votes every other week it seemed. He got hurt, Koch got fit and became undroppable. When Llorente got fit he was shoe horned into left side and was awful then benched.

I think it's time to move on from Shea wasting to much time on this guy ,and is he going to make that much difference us.
The end of the say HE is in the championship for a reason he us part of a very poor team.
If we gave serious money we need a striker and cd to replace Pascal and sort the keeper issue out ASAP .

Koch lived up to his name. Had hgh hopes for him but he was average at best. I liked Llorente when he played in the right position.
