Not much of a surprise that the French get past Sweden. But they look like they have about 3 more gears they can shift into.

Mexico vs Ecuador

El Tri remain unbeaten at the Azteca. And I think at the end of the night they will still be unbeaten. I don't think the elevation will bother Ecuador as they play home games at about 9,000 feet. But the intensity of the Mexican fans and that atmosphere will be tough!

Yes. I think you're right about the massive, passionate Mexican crowd being a 12th player here. Equador are a bit shell-shocked.

Greece were European champions. You don’t really get outsiders winning the WC

Saw Portugal v Uzbekistan and Congo. Really strong squad, but they haven't really got going yet. If they make the quarters, I think they'd be hard to stop. They won the Nations League, as well. I know some don't care about it, but you have to beat the top guns to win it.

Mexico, apart from South Africa, all the games were on at 02:00 so I recorded, but didn't watch the full match. They're strong defensively and have the fans as their 12th man, although R16 would be the last game at the Azteca, so it might end afterwards.

I think Colombia have a potential top side in the R16, but they're another one to watch.
