Re: Gigs/Concerts
Two gigs this weekend ( my 12th & 13th of the year so far) , Friday night I’ve For the Love of Shane MacGowan , a tribute to the late great and sometimes flawed Pogues frontman. Then on Sunday night it’s Big Country ,. Wedged in between on Saturday I’ve a wee trip down to Berwick for the Speedway, my first meeting of the season Vs Workington, looking forward to seeing some shale flying and smelling the Castrol R again

I wish I could see it! Huge fan of Shane and The Pogues. Have you seen the funeral tribute? The Fairytale of New York tribute they perform is beautifulLorimer46 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2026 10:10 pm Two gigs this weekend ( my 12th & 13th of the year so far) , Friday night I’ve For the Love of Shane MacGowan , a tribute to the late great and sometimes flawed Pogues frontman. I can remember as a kid, when we lived in Lincoln, my Dad taking me down to watch the Speedway at Boston……the Boston Barracuda’s. Would have been the late 70’s, no idea if they’re still going.Lorimer46 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2026 10:10 pm Two gigs this weekend ( my 12th & 13th of the year so far) , Friday night I’ve For the Love of Shane MacGowan , a tribute to the late great and sometimes flawed Pogues frontman. Likewise Muppet, my friend’s dad took us to see Halifax Dukes probably four or five times in the late 70’s.
IIRC, they were either champions or champions elect at the time.

Re: Gigs/Concerts
They tried to relaunch them a few years ago in the lowest tier of British Speedway ran for a while but speedway struggles to attract the younger crowd these days, I guess it’s not cool enough, most fans are auld guys in anoraksMuppet the Cat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 7:29 am I can remember as a kid, when we lived in Lincoln, my Dad taking me down to watch the Speedway at Boston……the Boston Barracuda’s. Enjoy, but not for me. I hate that sound the top two bands produce...

Biird next Thursday in the eartH theatre Hackney.
The wife said she wanted to go then said I think I’m too frightened to go to Hackney. Silly mare.
Anyway know absolutely nothing about them bar its folk or traditional Irish music and 11 women.

We Lost The Sea, in Bristol last night.
It was blo*dy hot, but a top show/performance..and managed to find myself a spot right at the front.

Re: Gigs/Concerts
Most enjoyable as it turned out.
Dalston is a lively friendly place. No riots
Unbelievably hot in the eartH Theatre though.
Had to have 5 pints of a lovely Camden Town Hells lager afterwards to cool down.
In the Red Hand pub which is highly recommended
