Re: Marathe/49ers/Red Bull/end of season open letter 2026
1) Find where I said Farke should have no say? You won't because I didn't (once again making leaps with the truth based on what you want me to say). What I said is Farke should not have total control on footballing matters (hence tail shouldn't wag the dog).Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2026 8:21 am How do you come up with these ideas.
1. The tail waging the dog... it paints Farke as insignificant, someone who thinks he has authority when he has none. Put him back in his place it is pure insolence to think he should have any say in how this club is run.
2. Ungrateful... that Farke is a whiner a moaner, all those folks who see him as humble have been hoodwinked, he has pulled the wool over their eyes, ungrateful failure that he is.
The depth of your hate for Farke is unfathomable. I suppose it is because he has succeeded, and has dashed all of your wild negative predictions to smithereens.
It must be galling to be so wrong about him. Your last throw of the dice is that the 49ers will get rid of him because he wants some say in transfers and what is best for the team.
2) If Farke left because the owners wouldn't give him total control and indulge his Sporting Director fantasies then yes I'd say its ungrateful of him given how much the owners have supported him.
And I don't "hate" anyone
What a daft comment
He has succeeded once he put his ego aside yes.
Hopefully he does it again and not demand full control.

There you go again mentioning full control, that is a pure figment of your imagination. As seen from the 48ers letter they will be sitting down to discuss a new 3 year plan. To me that sounds the amicable thing to do.
what a silly thing to say that the setting aside of Farke's ego was the reason for his success.
Successful football managers do not need to lose their ego to succeed; in fact, a strong, well-directed ego is often a prerequisite for greatness.
The most decorated managers in history, from Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho to Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, and Jürgen Klopp, have operated with substantial egos that fueled their relentless drive, unshakeable self-belief, and ability to impose their vision on clubs, players, and entire leagues.
A healthy ego provides the confidence to make unpopular decisions, confront superstar players, withstand intense media scrutiny, and maintain authority in high-pressure environments where hesitation or excessive humility can be fatal.
The idea that managers must become ego-less saints is a romantic myth; what truly matters is channeling ego into tactical conviction, demanding standards, and the audacity to believe your methods are superior.
Managers who lack this inner fire rarely survive at the elite level, let alone dominate it.
But it is quite clear you would would like a dehumanised data driven automaton running the show.
Whereas instead Frarke has shown empathy towards both his players and the fans, not set apart or aloof, like someone who has a high and almighty super ego.

No figment of my imagination about it.
Aside from the fact full manager control is old fashioned those managers you mentioned were elite managers who earned the right to demand whatever they wanted through years and years of success at the elite level.

We had a great season BUT
DF will not be our manager at the end of the season, The board will not be spending the big money that we need to improve and his discussions with the board will end up with him going.
The board have made it clear we will not be spending big. What a shame. we will sell players and rely on U21 players next season, what a joke.
Wish we had much better people in charge i.e. people who knows how a football club/team operates in England.

Leeds need to bring in a midfielder who can score goals and a decent number 9 in Jan 2027.

I listened to the whole interview and at no time did he mention full control.
he did say that the club hunted him down and that they persuaded him to take the job.
Also he was given the responsibility to develop the footballing side of the club to his best ability.
I remember that interview now and the feeling that it broght up in most people was that he was saying goodbye.
I suppose that you were thinking that he was arrogant and petulant and that he was issuing a challenge to the management that if you don't support me then I'm leaving.
It was a good interview, and I respect him for speaking his mind openly, unlike weasel word politicians.

Don't put much stock in the "I had to he persuaded stuff", just manager waffle to not make it look like they were desperate for a job. No manager will make themselves look desperate for a job.
Given The Athletic (which you'd imagine have more information than us) did a whole article about control after it I'm gonna assume they know more about the situation.
He also apparently mentioned style of play how he wants to do this and that.
No logic whatsoever to changing the style of play.
The only reason for it would be arrogance to prove "my way" works.
So let me ask you a simple question.
If Farke insisted on changing our style of play to his "ideals" as a condition for staying (we know what they are) wou)d you consider that sensible?

I forgot to mention that he said he ticked all the boxes in getting promoted from the championship whilst breaking many records and that he kept us in the premiership which were the points stipulated in the 4 year plan, which he completed in 3. All he wants now is a clear new 3 year plan with focused objectives... not to survive , but thrive and to develop a team to compete in Europe, and who can object to that.Cjay wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 10:03 am Oh he's definitely arrogant.

As a manager he has filled all the criteria asked of him.
From what I remember from last season was that he changed his style of play to suit the opposition... Manchester City being a prime example. It is therefore a fallacy to say that he has a certain style of play that he wants to adhere to, and another figment of your fevered imagination.

And now it is upto the owners to set new criteria and tell DF how it will be as is their right.
Nobody can object.
And who knows maybe we could get into Europe in the future.
But by sticking by what got us here and keeping consistency and stability.
It is not a "fallacy" you can find interviews with Farke telling you how he wants to play going all the way back to Norwich (very odd hill you've chosen to die on here)
You are just making stuff up at this point with absolutely 0 evidence (atleast I regularly provide evidence) you just go with "trust me bro".
The idea he adapted to opposition is unfortunately a figment of YOUR imagination as pre Man City half time he had refused to adapt.
Do you even believe what you're saying or is it just your usual obstinate nature?
Lots of articles if you'd like to go look showing a notable shift from the Farke pragmatic possession style to the post Man City one.
So let me ask you again, just answer one question, don't argue the point just answer.
Would you see a change in playing style as sensible?

Early Ridsdale and Bates new how to run a club and look where that got us. No disrespect but you seem very difficult to please when it comes to the club. I think we should just wait and see what happens this summer. Do we really need to spend big? Depends what we wish to achieve. I've thought a few more good signings to add to what we have should see a side more than capable of consolidating next season. That doesn't need to cost the earth given who we unearthed last summer for decent prices. I'm no cheerleader for the 49ers just yet, never have been but I'm prepared to go with the flow and hope they can build on what they have already done. Project one passed off without much of a hitch. Let's just see what happens now. We don't have much choice really. If Farke is still here after the discussions would that put your mind at ease regarding any shared ambition between him and the board?pjm2019 wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2026 8:47 am We had a great season BUT

Would I see a change in playing style as sensible? Absolutely... as soon as the data figures out how to create moments of magic instead of just counting them... right after the data learns how to win a football match instead of just measuring them... if the data also suggests abandoning a chef’s signature recipe just because a spreadsheet says ‘try something else. Can data forge identity and team spirit.
It takes a manager to do that.
