We were playing a mid table Championship team James and DF gave them a chance and apart from Perri they blew it. Going on Buonanotte/Gnonto/Piroe or Longstaff’s performances today which recent game would you have trusted them coming on with 1/2 hr left ? Every single game we play and bring those players on they ( and Farke ) get shredded on here, we can’t have it both ways.White Riot wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:29 pm They never get a chance to get match fit, and gain confidence Cussie.
I think if Rodon, Bogle and co were only given ten minutes every month they'd lose form and confidence too.

The same argument was used in the Championship when Bamford and Gnonto were getting pitty minutes.White Riot wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:29 pm They never get a chance to get match fit, and gain confidence Cussie.

Not good enough for more.
Then they got more and did well.
As you say players can't be match sharp playing an hour of football in 6 months or whatever it is.
Hence why Bielsa used to let them play u23 football.

Gnonto. I'd have been happy starting him in all of them. I know he's class. Buonanotte probably needs to be allowed back to Brighton, Chambers would be better atm.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:45 pm We were playing a mid table Championship team James and DF gave them a chance and apart from Perri they blew it. Not a whipping boy for me!weasel wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:21 pm It is but conisder how little he has played it was for me at least partly forgiveable that his body let him down with some passes. By contrast see how many Birmingham players were cramping up and likely they had been playing more regularly.
I think Longstaff has his part to play this season. Seems he is though the forum whipping boy now that Gruev had his good game and Okafor has scored a couple of goals.
Indeed Longstaff has a part to play, I'm just highlighting how frustrating he was today. So pleased he struck his penalty sweetly.

Spot on, they were brought down to Birmingham's level.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:45 pm We were playing a mid table Championship team James and DF gave them a chance and apart from Perri they blew it. I disagree with you about Gnonto, respect your opinion though. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:49 pm Gnonto. I'd have been happy starting him in all of them. I know he's class. Buonanotte probably needs to be allowed back to Brighton, Chambers would be better atm.
Buonanotte will struggle to get games at Leeds, he has previously at Brighton & Chelsea.
Chambers is not ready, I suspect.

Longstaff I wouldn't have bought in the first place Cussie, never rated him and Newcastle had our pants down with that price. He's a very limited player.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 3:45 pm We were playing a mid table Championship team James and DF gave them a chance and apart from Perri they blew it. Buonanotte seems like he was brought in against Farke's wishes, similar to Spence, Anthony, Roberts, etc, and Farke has continually stated he doesn't like loans. Which removes an avenue for squad improvement. Rodon proved that loans can be successful.
Piroe for me proved his worth last season, but Farke seems to have had a downer on him since we signed him. So, I again wonder if Piroe was signed as a third or forth choice on Farke's wish lit.
Joel can finish, same as Nmecha, both are no good at physical duels, but Joel has vision and can bring others into play. So, I'd play Piroe ahead of Nmecha every day if the week.
Gnonto, like Tanaka, I feel have the quality to make an impact at this level, and both have proven that. But, Tanaka's form significantly improved last season when he was given a run.
Farke was prepared to gamble and start with a void of a midfield against Chelsea, who had Palmer allowed the freedom of Stamford Bridge in the first half.
So, if he's prepared to take a risk like that, for which we should have been severely punished, then why not give these guys more of a chance?
There have been lots of matches this season where if we'd pushed a bit the win was there for the taking. But he's stuck with his defenders and sat back and watched us drop points late in matches.
I'm more tired than Longstaff after writing all that

Hopefully if it was enforced we'd have Stach and Gruev to call upon.

Take away Nmecha’s vital goal contributions this season and we’d likely be in the bottom 3.White Riot wrote: ↑Sun Feb 15, 2026 4:02 pm Longstaff I wouldn't have bought in the first place Cussie, never rated him and Newcastle had our pants down with that price. He's a very limited player.

Replacing him with Piroe would therefore be one hell of a gamble.
Also pretty sure Nmecha’s goal per minutes played is second only to Harland in the PL.

Yeah, he's done well and took his chances.
With Piroe, we'll never know, cos he hasn't been given a chance. I still feel he offers more than Nmecha.
