Farke here on Buonanotte

No. Speculation and rumours, I never speak about this. I can speak in general about what we do. Opportunity to extnd our squad. But can't confirm anything regarding incomings and outgoings, apart from Harry Gray.



Transfer aims

We spoke in summer about what we want to do in the offence. We have developed really well as a group. On a PL on a really good path.

We will only do something if a player adds to our squad and is a top character. Quite often there is a situation with a player who is not available or is overpriced. Relcutant to comment re January. But we are open. Not much has changed because there is not any major injuries.




Harry Wilson

I don;t speak about any rumours in the summer. So many names were and are linked, For that, I don't comment on any speculations. Really good player and is having a really good season with goals ane endp products. I tried to sign him on Norwich so known him a long time.




On attackers

There is no need to be afraid of quality players. Every one that could help us is important for us. We are a bit thin in creative offensive players, like a winger number 10 posotion.

We have changed your set up a little bit. I would label it a rumour we have always played 3-5-2, have played more mins in 4-3-3. Doesn;t mean new signing comes in and has his position is guaranteed. Is good for the competition.





Harry Gray

Delighted. Perfect first loan move for him. Youngsters should develop step by step. When you have outgrown your age group then move from - for eg - from U16s to U18s - then after a few months if you get into fist team then game time.

If a player trians with first team but plays on youth level but struggles for game time, loan makes snese. Harry scored goals for fun at youth level. You have to earn your place step by step.

There is no way for shortcuts. For Harry, just 17. Thius is pefect chance to mature and get physically ready.




Team news

Looks much better. They are all available. Bornauw back with us back in training. DJ is on the way in the rehab and not too far away from training




Fulham

Showed many good performances. Have improved a lot under Marco, many threats in the offence. Didn;t get results they deserved earlier in the season. Have now turned performances into results.

In alst five games in form table they are third. Very good football aide. We need to be well structured and take away their football skills. The have added quality into their squad that had core bones but developed their squad. Dangerous side in the top half of the table. Impressive what they have done.




Goalkeepers

So much taliing about goalkeepers, not tempted to talk a lot about it. Feels like we always speak about GKs, bit tired of it. I spoke open about what our demands on but don;t want to do this on weekly basis.

But you have to deliver and if you get criticised, you have to handle the criticism. Don't want to speak about individual positions.



Reason behind good form

Unbelievable physical output, really top. Also our soft skills to be there with a great team spirit. Impressive ammount of goals. Could have been more effective in conceding less.



On more signings

Depends on what the group needs. Important group is not too big. We won't extend the group. I don't expect a big turnaround. The core bones are good and the direction is good.

I would recommend not to believe each and every rumour.

Elland Road will welcome Fulham on Saturday afternoon, as Leeds United aims to shake off the disappointment of a dramatic last-gasp defeat by Newcastle. Harvey Barnes’s stoppage-time strike sealed a 4-3 victory for the Magpies, taking advantage of a defence that has been vulnerable in the final moments this season. In fact, the Whites have conceded eight goals in stoppage time, more than any other Premier League side, and the Elland Road faithful will be praying history doesn’t repeat itself against a Fulham side who stole all three points with their own late winner back in mid-September. On that occasion, it was an unfortunate Gudmundsson own goal deep into added time that handed Marco Silva’s men a 1-0 success.

Fulham arrive in Yorkshire in confident mood. They remain on a six-game unbeaten run in the Premier League (four wins, two draws) and have collected 14 points since mid-December, a tally bettered only by Arsenal in that period. Their recent record against Leeds is equally impressive: three straight top-flight victories, the longest winning streak the Cottagers have ever enjoyed over the Whites. Since December 2021, they have gone four matches without defeat at Elland Road (two wins, two draws), and their ongoing confidence is bolstered by victories over Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Manchester Utd in recent weeks.

Silva’s squad, however, is stretched. Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final has taken Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze out of contention. Rodrigo Muniz remains sidelined after hamstring surgery in November, joining the likes of Joshua King, who hasn’t featured since late December due to a knee injury, and full-back Kenny Tete, still nursing a hamstring strain. Fulham’s creativity and attacking depth will be sorely tested if Silva is forced to shuffle his options once more.



Daniel Farke has reason to feel optimistic. In his Thursday press conference, the German head coach revealed that Sebastiaan Bornauw, Joe Rodon, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle are “back in contention” after injury setbacks. “The team news looks much better,” Farke said, reflecting a fully fit squad for the first time in several weeks. The improved defensive options should help address the late concessions that have cost Leeds dearly of late.

With the January transfer window open, Farke also faced questions about reinforcements. He reiterated Leeds’s summer objectives, an emphasis on a creative number 10 or an additional winger, and admitted that while they missed out on a key target in August, “we have developed really well as a group and we’re on a good path.” Any incoming player must not only fill a technical need but “fit into this group,” he added. The coach was adamant that the club would not compromise the squad’s spirit for a headline signing. Although “there’s always space for one, perhaps two, three positions,” Farke insisted he did not expect a major spending spree: “I’m very confident we won’t have a major turnaround in this window.”

Farke was asked about a potential deal for Brighton forward Facundo Buonanotte, but refused to comment, knowing the Argentine playmaker was actually on his way to Thorp Arch as he was speaking. Buonanotte came close to signing for Leeds last summer, only to change his mind at the eleventh hour, after Chelsea came calling. However, five months on, and only only 46 league minutes on the clock, Brighton called time on his Stamford Bridge loan.

Leeds’s recent run of form, including seven matches unbeaten before the Newcastle slip-up, speaks volumes about their collective belief. Talismanic forward, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has been central to that upswing. After netting just once in his first ten appearances this season, he has scored eight goals in his last nine matches, on course to reach double figures for only the third time in a Premier League campaign following his 16-goal haul in 2020-21 and 13 in 2019-20. His predatory instincts could prove decisive against a Fulham backline stretched thin by absences.
