We are playing against not only low blocks, but physical teams constantly fouling us, time-wasting & poor referees.SG90 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 10:34 pm Unfortunately Eustace has Farke's number, too easy for him to get a result. Better hope Russell Martin doesn't get a Championship job lol. No point researching how teams play every week, we all know it'll be 11 behind the ball, so best to work on a different tactic to use against them.

What Blackburn do really well when they sit back is not only defend the space but get tight to players. So that they can instigate a coordinated press at any time. This prevented us from developing a rhythm in possession, unlike teams that sit off us and are purely reactive.
Blackburn probably only play like this for sustained periods against us. Add in, as others mentioned, their physicality and it is very difficult to apply meaningful pressure. I am glad to get this game out of the way in truth.

They are the best drilled team we've come up against. Anybody that can bring themselves to watch a re run (good luck with that) of this game, just see how well drilled they are in getting themselves behind the ball and occupy a specific m2 area of the pitch that seems to be about Xm2, it's like every single one of them know their role. The only other team i've seen pull off such formation, are The Red Arrows.DDB220 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 10:54 pm What Blackburn do really well when they sit back is not only defend the space but get tight to players. Which is why the constant stop start is vital for them to be able to get their breathe back and get themselves set again. WHen we string passes together, seemingly going nowhere in the eyes of some fans, it is to continually move the oppositon players about in the the hope that one or two of them switch off or get dragged into the wrong positions which opens up the space for us to hopefully exploit.DDB220 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 10:54 pm What Blackburn do really well when they sit back is not only defend the space but get tight to players. It is sort of the opposite to Bielsa in that under Bielsa when we had the ball everyone knew where to move. Under Eustace the Blackburn players know where to move without the ball.Stonecoldwhite wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 11:09 pm They are the best drilled team we've come up against. Re: Leeds Utd v Blackburn Rovers Match Thread
Just got done watching the game. What a boring watch. I'll admit to scrolling down social media a couple of times and ordering a pizza while watching. Quite a few have mentioned Blackburn's tactics. I thought we were lethargic as a whole - especially in the first half. The changes disrupted things later. We may well have just been showing some fatigue after a slightly busy holiday schedule. I don't know if that's a valid point after 3 games in a week. But it just looked and felt that way.
On a positive note, we did come out of this holiday period really well compared to the other teams at the top. There's not much doubt that we're the best team in the league after this past week. Some inconsistencies from us. But worse inconsistencies and less convincing performances from the next best three teams. On to Hull.

Riddle me this, why does Blackburn get a draw with us, yet gets beat by Hull who are in the relegation zone...

Whether a corner or not (It was defo debateable) the ball passed over our six yard box with Meslier rooted to his line. He is 6'5" tall for goodness sake and with arms outstretched can probably add another 18" to that. He should have at least punched the ball away.

Re: Leeds Utd v Blackburn Rovers Match Thread
I said before Christmas that Blunts had 3 tough games in a row and would likely not win any of them: they didn't! We have taken 7 points out of 9 and the football God has been kind to us regarding other results! Who'd have predicted that only 1 team in the top eight would win last week (us)? We are in a good position.
Now getting back to January transfers: not something we do but... if we do: we need a 10 and a 9...

Sadly, Dan had a torrid afternoon.
8 poor crosses, 7 of them in the second-half.
A bad day at the office!
