Who is the best manager in the championship?
Benjamin Bloom asks the question... do you agree with his ranking?
Are you surprised by where he placed Rooney, Wilder and Farke?
What about the departures and their replacements?
And will the best managers achieve promotion?

Well Farke seems to divide opinion on here, he has his staunch supporters and his fervent detractors.mentalcase wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:34 am A bit early to be asking that question imho, lets see where we are come May.

He will be criticised and analysed after every loss or team selection, and begrudgingly might receive praise if he wins a game.
It is just nice to get an outsider opinion... someone who isn't in the Leeds washing machine.

OK Sean, well in that case I'm going Farke, then Wilder this season, I like both tbh, many despise wilder but I actually respect the man, he's loyal and actually talks a lot of sense.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:50 am Well Farke seems to divide opinion on here, he has his staunch supporters and his fervent detractors.

Farke is our manager and I'm backing him, certainly in this division, if he gets us up, he desereves another crack at the PL , hopefully with ver hard lessons learnt.

Wilder for me but only when managing Sheff Utd as they just so well suited to each other.
Farke would then be second as it stands with Parker third.
Have to say though the new guy at Sunderland might prove to be better than all them but it's too early to judge at the moment.

Gone with DF but wouldn’t mind Carrick if we didn’t have DF.
I like the way Boro play and with our players, think he would take us up.
Wilder also would take us up but it wouldn’t be as easy on the eye.

If you told me to pick a manager who's yet to have promotion on CV then it would have to be....
Carrick.
Carrick.

Not a criticism of DF (because that wasn’t the question), but Michael Carrick got my vote, I like the way Boro play, too. With our funding I think he could do a job here.
Unrelated Boro point: I was coveting Ben Doak on the right wing, watching Scotland play the other night. I reckon he’s faster than Dan James, trouble is his end product is worse, if you can imagine that.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Without some kind of context for this poll I'm struggling to say.
What are we going on?
Historical evidence? Resources? Points/position so far? Bias for the homer pick? Tactics? xG? Quality of football? All of the above?
Plus I have to be honest, unlike a lot of posters I don't watch other teams games other than when they play us..
I do think there's not much difference top 7/8 and Farke could be the best or down at 8.

DF at the minute with Carrick next. Always liked Corberan and Bielsa had a great opinion of him so up there as well. Wilder could prob get us up but I wouldn’t fancy being on this forum after games seeing the abuse Farke gets for being boring.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Farke for me.
I have a lot of respect for Michael Carrick however, he still has to prove himself as a top coach in his third season at Boro'.
Boro' have already lost five games at Derby, Watford, Sunderland & at home to Bristol City & Coventry, scoring once & conceding nine in those five games. Imagine the meltdown on here if that was Leeds?
Farke got hammered for his two one goal defeats & 0-0 draws.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Same as Faaip, what's the criteria?
Tactical acumen? Game management? Because these are areas many on have criticised Farke for
Is a manager taking a team from bottom to mid table with someone else's squad more impressive than winning promotion with a squad you picked and were given far more money for far better players than anyone else?
Are titles and Championships the be all and end all?
Bielsa didn't get promoted 1st season but most of us here felt he was the best manager in context of the players he had how much he improved them etc?
Same time many thought Maresca just did what he should with the money and budget he was given.
For me it's Carrick who imo is pound for pound the best manager in the league.
I also think Danny Rohl deserves a mention.
And no fan but Chris Wilder has made a career out of making the most of very little.
And I refer back to what Guardiola said about Bielsa basically.
It's how they improve players, get the best out of what they have etc.
So Carrick
Took Boro from 21st I think it was in October when he took over to 4th same season.
Then next summer lost his 2 best players Akpom and Archer in the summer which they struggled to adapt to (something Farke was given 2 months of washing his hands of by many on here for) then lost Morgan Rodgers in January and still finished 8th (would have been top 6 if season started in October like Farke wanted).
So yeah Carrick for me.

Given resources I think Corberen , Farke has done better than anyone since Bielsa but I don't think he is the man to lead a PL team , trouble is if he gets Leeds up he is going to get the chance but I just don't think he has the savvy and tactics for top level . Pretty much applies to the whole of Championship managers though , not sure if Corberen is at that level yet either .

I voted for the Sunderland manager, Regis Le Bris, his first season in English football and is doing well.

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
Yes I know , but the team had pretty much forgotten how to win , Allardyce managed none , did Gracia manage one ? I forget now as he was forgettable , Mars he was just plain inept and awful......but Farke had to turn that mentality around . He probably has one of the best records ever as a Leeds manager/coach but I don't take that into account due to it being at a lower level .

Re: Who is the best manager in the championship?
It seems strange that Carrick has the same count of votes as Farke, when Boro' have lost five games & conceded nearly double amount of goals as Leeds.
Also, Leeds have been in the top 3 or 4 for much of this season, with Boro' still outside the play-offs.
This could only happen on MOT.

You should have voted for Le Bris then, he's outperformed Farke this season1964white wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:40 pm It seems strange that Carrick has the same count of votes as Farke, when Boro' have lost five games & conceded nearly double amount of goals as Leeds.

Like yourself I speak to a lot of fans from other clubs.
Farke isn't rated how some on here do.
Carrick on the other hand is well thought of.
Carrick overachieves, Farke doesn't.
Besides that Carrick is heavily linked to a Premier League job every time it comes up, DF never is.
