Coberon & Wilder play boring football, Parker's style is not setting the league alight.
Sunderland maybe top, but they weren't that good against us & the mackems were poor yesterday. Blimey, even Plymouth beat them!
Leeds fans expectations for exciting football is far too high, maybe the Bielsa-era spoilt us.
God knows what meltdown this forum will endure when we are taking some batterings in the Premier League next season.

TBH I'd rather be a bigger fish in the Championship than a tiddler in the Premiership that is likely to be thrown back anyway.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:59 am Coberon & Wilder play boring football, Parker's style is not setting the league alight.

Re: Leeds Utd v Queens Park Rangers Match Thread
On the Piroe debate we seemed to see yesterday exactly what some of us have been calling for. Firstly with the threat of his pace Joseph forced the QPR defence to retreat a few yards which always helps our wingers and full backs to push up in the wide areas. One particular example stood out for me when Jospeh picked a ball up in a similar position to what Piroe might have done and then played it out wide, the difference then though was he sprinted at top speed through the centre forward position taking all the central defenders with him which completely opened up the whole at the edge of the box for a pulled back cross. Nothing came of it but the pace he showed stood out.
Then when Piroe came on after 70 mins he had the finishing ability to take the late chance that came this way against a team that was desperately pushing for the equaliser.
So perfect really and if we'd used this tactic against Millwall midweek we might have seen a better outcome.

Stay up by any possible method and that means we might have to consider hiring Dyche.
That's totally serious by the way as Everton might be done with him at some point in the near future and we might be moving on from Farke if results are poor in the PL (subject to promotion of course).

I would like to see farke mix it up a bit and play 2 forwards against the teams that sit back ,i know we have a abundance of wingers but try 3 - 5 -2 .
Joseph can flick it on for Piroe its just deciding who could play wing
backs, a bit of variety would be good .

Funnily enough I said to the gentleman seated “is this the middle cubicle” and he said “I’d like you to leave forthwith”.

I think people fail to appreciate how Farke has the team moving for each other. Bielsa's team was meticulously well drilled as is Farke's however whereas Bielsa got his side to pass quickly with the 'reward v risk' ethos Farke prefers them to take less risks. However both teams are drilled the same way in terms of moving in advance so that the moves don't break down.Cjay wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 1:56 am Bielsa raised the levels of those players far above anything any of them had ever achieved before or since.
He had them playing in a style so intricately coached it was almost telepathic and made every player look better than they were as individuals.
Farke doesn't get close to that level of coaching for me, he hasn't raised players to that degree or coached a style that well and made it more than the sum of its parts ever.
Lots of teams try to play out from the back but struggle. For the main we do it extremely well and make it look really easy but it isn't. Look at the match v Watford where for a 10 minute spell they made it really uncomfortable for us to play it out from the back - that was how it looks when teams that aren't well drilled try to pass out from the back. But we quickly regained our composure and comfortably saw out the half.

Re: Leeds Utd v Queens Park Rangers Match Thread
To be fair I think if we got promoted and played the same way it would suddenly become a lot more exciting as we wouldn't be facing teams that were simply sitting back. As such teams attacking us would make the football more exciting as we'd have more space when going forward. The Sunderland match is probably the best eample as with them being at home, and top of the league, they attacked us even when they were 1-0 up.Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:48 am No in general the style is too prosaic for my liking but as it brings results we have to accept it. Also when you look at how few attempts we concede on our goal you can see why Farke's preference is for control of the match rather than off the cuff risk taking.
For me the fault lies not with Farke's football but with the opposition continually setting up with a packed defence and not really trying to take the game to us. Take the Plymouth match as an example and even though they were 3-0 down at half time they still didn't really try to attack us. They made the second half boring rather than us as there was simply no need for us to over commit or really play at full pelt.

I think that is the case. If Bielsa hadn't turned up here and got us playing the way we did then I think fans would appreciate more how good we are at keeping possession. Under O'Leary we had an exciting style but lacked control. We were 100mph rather than able to pass it around and keep possession.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:59 am Coberon & Wilder play boring football, Parker's style is not setting the league alight.

I think that in every league match this season we will have had comfortable more shots than the opposition apart from the WBA bore draw (where we had the same amount as them).

Re: Leeds Utd v Queens Park Rangers Match Thread
What i have noticed from match comments is when subs come on we have posts saying they made a difference, we were more effective, had more get up and go because of the subs. Thing is the subs are also the same players that get plenty of chances to start games and show what they are made of and it doesnt always happen. We then have the scenario were the players who were dropped from the starting 11 come on as subs and we hear the same things, those subs made all the difference, we should have brought them on sooner, etc etc.
We are not getting the high level of consistency from our starting 11`s that we should, week in week out. We are having to bring on subs at times to try and change things, but thats the nature of the game, its a squad game these days, its not just about 11 players.

I can’t remember a game where we looked so energised by the subs.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 12:27 pm What i have noticed from match comments is when subs come on we have posts saying they made a difference, we were more effective, had more get up and go because of the subs. Maybe energised isnt the correct word but plenty of people said subs made all the difference.

Solomon & Joseph were more effective as starters than they've been as substitutes in the last few matches. Whereas Dan James and Piroe were both really effective coming on as subs yesterday.
Therefore Farke got more out of his squad by tweaking the starting eleven.

The problem with that logic, is if we don't go up, we won't be challenging and all our best players will be gone. While the parachute clubs chop and change divisions every year.PhoenixUnited wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 11:16 am TBH I'd rather be a bigger fish in the Championship than a tiddler in the Premiership that is likely to be thrown back anyway.

The first goal reminded me of a pinball machine against a very poor QPR, we should be putting these sides away with ease. How many watching were nervous at 1-0? My point is that the 2-0 scoreline does not tell the whole story. Our finisihing is a joke and we need to defend properly against set peices. What are the striking options if Piroe picks up a knock, is Joesph going to step up? Gnonto is well below par considering his billing as premier league quality player, he needs a rest imo and get his focus back. Overall we made tough work when we should be coasting.

When is DF going to play schmit he has got to be worth a go or why would DF buy him just to sit on the bench . On the subject of Piroe i like the guy but i think he might just be used from the subs bench by DF but i honestly think he is better than that the others need to wprk with Piroe we are missing way to many chances to be promoted .
