I've always insisted Piroe is more dangerous coming off the bench.

Not as prolific for Leeds when he starts.

I enjoyed the game.

We couldn't afford to take our foot off the pedal with a slender 1-0 lead, we kept going to the very end, unlike the Plymouth game, when we all could have gone home at half-time.

Take our chances & we'd have been out of sight long before the end of the game.

Anyway, we had some success prior to kick-off, we finally flushed him out, we ought to rename Weasel.
I just thought it was dull at times, a bit tedious with not a lot happening.

We were both out done by MC before the game to be fair, although we had our suspicions it was only going up to my seat that the identity was revealed.

Hopefully, MC will join us for our pre-match chats in future 👍

I know. I'm being deliberately antagonistic. We were inconsistent. We were better tahn both Ipswich and Leicester. But we couldn't beat the lesser teams. It's such a paradox with Leeds. Our best day was better than anyone else's best day. If we'd only picked up a few more points against the bottom 10.

Farke's here - More convincing?

Yes, of course, but I am happy with a win. I have to give many compliments. The load is incredible. Key players are out or suspended. To deliver such a performance and convincing win, to respond after a loss, not a bad performance, it does something to confidence.

Everyone expects us to win. It's not easy. We had to be on it. Electrifying first half. Took a deserved lead. Goal of the season given offside. Fantastic goal. If they are in doubt a flag always goes up. Second half, central players have to carry all the burden because of the injuries. Had to adapt our style and not give chances away. QPR struggling with injuries, but they will finish in a better position than they are. Gave just two wide free-kicks away.

We looked rock solid. Wasteful with the counter, Willy to Manor has to be a goal. Needs to be a tidier pass. Fantastic finish by Piroe, cool and calm. Very happy with the performance, win and clean sheet. Could have been easier and earlier done, but do not want to criticise this today.

Solomon start?

I believe in my whole group, and it's important to make sure the player, after a long injury comes into his rhythm, His first start, necessary. James and Piroe with third game in seven days, invested a lot. Early hours of Thursday morning, not proper sleep. James long time out. Didn;t want to risk him. Chose to rotate a little.

Firpo ban

If I am allowed to ask them, I would answer as the last question. I will be in a bad mood if I answer it.

Prep difficult because of Firpo?

Decision came late last night, after our final session and after confirming the squad. We are used to adapting to difficult situations. Strange situations in the Carabao, before the game, Georgi would be leaving us. They are professionals and adapted to this.

Do you have to be less critical because of the circumstances?

I am never addicted to result, nor do I play psychological games with my player. If we are great or terrible, I call it like it is in our meeting room because I don't like vanity. You cannot let your level drop. Even after this game, we will take about things we could have done better. Some mistakes like Ao'

A pessimist when you are holding on there?

A realistic pessimist. I pretend to be cool, but I am a human being and I am still burning. The time goes up with six minutes, you ask why? No goals in the second half before then, no time wasting, one injury. If I can help my team, I will with a sub, but generally, I expected the worst.

Happy with the first third of the season?

Yes. The position is not important. League is made between November and March,. Brought ourselves into a good position. The most important thing is the points tally. 29 is good at this point. Pleased with performances and approach.

Great consistency, many clean sheets., Solutions for sucker-punches with injuries. Responding to losses with wins is crucial. Championship is a long road

Then a huge response to Firpo which I'm struggling to paste

I thought the referee was poor today. No consistency. But not below what I've come to expect from the Championship.

But at least none of his calls affected the outcome of the game.

In retrospect the game wasn't that bad. I thought we played well as a whole. But didn't make it count enough in the final third.

It was a frustrating game only because we didn't convert our dominance. But in hindsight I can look back and be pleased with things overall

He was a bit sneaky, but because of our suspicions, we had him in our sights.

Lovely finish from Piroe.
He's starting to remind me of Djed Spence. Looks useful as a full back covering a more attacking player in a more defensive move - which I think is all Farke has used him for so far. But not reliable to cover his position in defense - which Farke hasn't used him for so far.

I don't know what's been happening in training or behind the scenes. Can only hope that Schmidt is going to make the step up to regular first team football and covering full back, which is what we bought him for.

Our fans forget, it took a few months for Farke to give Gruev an opportunity in the first team.

Perhaps I will feel differently when watching the highlights, and, ultimately, three points is the objective and that is what we achieved.

Carrick Dave wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 6:00 pm Good summary Cjay.

Against a slightly better side, we might have been 2-1 down with 5 minutes to go, victims of our own profligacy once again.

As it was, we got away with it. Mateo did nothing with the chance to stake a claim, and Piroe did what he does in the end, fair play to him.

Everyone looked good against poor opposition, but Tanaka stood out again. I thought both Schmidt and Guilavogui looked good in their cameos.

A fairly unconvincing victory overall, but 3 points gained and now only 2 off the top. Roll on November 24th.
Yeah I'd go along with that.

It's points that count, its pretty dull to watch, not the convincing performance we'd hoped for against a side missing basically all its best players.

But wins a win.

Guilavogui and Schmidt looking lively, was nice and hopefully we see more of both.

Aaronson looked improved for periods as well without being particularly good.

Were positives but another slog and it definitely impacts the atmosphere (not a knock on the fans incidentally).

Joseph has been a great goal scorer at junior level and for Spain 21's. But he needs to convert that at senior level. Joffy was exactly the same way. Hopefully Joseph makes the next step.
I agree AJS, there was a good debate in the match reaction on the Just Joe show and I think it was JT who argued that we go through the same cycle with Piroe. The key is to start with Joseph as the rest of our attack is more creative and energetic when he is on and then bring Piroe on for 30+ minutes once the other team has some tired legs and he has a better opportunity of finding space to exploit for a goal. That’s the predicament he’s scored most of his goals from so why deviate from that? My two cents…
