Byram wasnt great but he wasnt a liability either.White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 4:54 pm Schmidt has looked ok, whereas Byram was awful today and still kept on the pitch for too long.
But that's Farke for you.
But to ahead find something to dis the manager, you are well practised.

I can't decide between Joseph and Piroe. Piroe puts away his chances. But he starts and offers very little. Josesph's work rate his good. But his final product needs to improve.
Joseph has been a great goal scorer at junior level and for Spain 21's. But he needs to convert that at senior level. Joffy was exactly the same way. Hopefully Joseph makes the next step.

Piroe offers more last 30, Joseph did ok today I thought including getting his head in to maybe prevent a shot on goalandrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 5:00 pm I can't decide between Joseph and Piroe. We can expect that much from Farke. Byram might be a bit different though. He showed last season he couldn't play back to back games on short rest. So he might have to be subbed after 70 next time.White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 4:58 pm But that's the problem Andrew, there never will be enough time to judge unless someone gets suspended or injured.
Don't bank on Farke giving Bogle and Byram a rest ,cos he refuses to rotate, and he has a squad to be able to do that.

Re: Leeds Utd v Queens Park Rangers Match Thread
Made hard work of it in the end.
QPR tbf to them aren't as bad as the table suggests and you'd imagine with a full strength squad or even half as few injuries they'd be higher up the table.
Did alright 1st half, controlled the game, Tanaka and Rothwell injecting some much needed pace into things and vertical passes which can often be lacking.
Aaronson had a brighter 1st half, faded 2nd half with some poor moments imo but did OK.
All in we got the job done, don't think Joseph did anything after the clamour for him to start, fluffed a chance and was bullied off the ball numerous times.
Looked better once the subs came on seemed to give us a bit more get up and go.
Bit worrying how close we let QPR get to scoring though 2nd half, the drop off and malaise that sets in for us too often needs correcting.
But wins a win.

No one was poor, everyone made errors... over thinking things as we build so slowly.

Update
Surrender a 2-0 lead
31 points from 15 games, +14 GD (less than us).
We are only 2 points behind them.
Fair play to Leeds too ?

Good solid win. We were rarely in trouble but at 1-0 you are always worried.
Nice if Wednesday could get something off the blunts.

Didn't know wasn't watching them obviously.
No we aren't hitting two points per game they are.
We are expected to be they aren't.
We did just enough today which will do.
They dropped points which I'm sure will annoy the fans but they are overachieving, we aren't.

Aaronson had a strange game today, quite a few times he did brilliant to beat a couple of players when surrounded and instead of playing the ball kept hold of it and then lost it.
But overall a good game he would make my top 6.

Agree Andrew, but again because of Byram's condition that substitution is pretty much forced on Farke. Today, against a very poor team, who were likely to, and did, sit back for the full match, was a great opportunity to start Schmidt and see what he's about and get some minutes under his belt.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 5:02 pm We can expect that much from Farke. But yet again Farke didn't take the opportunity. He flogged Rodon and Ampadu to death last season even when there were times when they looked jaded and out of form, and we had opportunities to rotate and rest them, but they weren't taken.
Tanaka and Rothwell are in there because Gruev and Ampadu are injured.
I don't think Farke learns and adapts at all.

If you look at our stats when we choke, we're dominant
For Sunderland: Coventry had 53% possession and Sunderland had 9 shots to 8
Certainly doesn't make Sunderland look like a top of table team.

I'm totally agreed. Fatigue killed us last season and Farke's unwillingness to use his bench. (Wrongly or rightly - he may have used his bench and dropped more points)White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 5:09 pm Agree Andrew, but again because of Byram's condition that substitution is pretty much forced on Farke. Schmidt needs to be pushed into the team more. Gilly needs to be picking up a few more minutes. Wober ? He's fit enough to get called up for Austria but can't get 5 minutes off the bench.
