Luton were never likely to go up imo. They massively overachieved going up in the first place. I see them as similar to Blackpool and will probably be in League One soon.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 7:09 pm As an example of how refreshing it is to see us put in a proper performance against one of the bottom teams ...
We drew 3-3 at home to Portsmouth who are 3 points behind Plymouth
Even crazier .... Luton promoted 2 seasons ago, premier league last year, level on points with Plymouth

Goal difference can be massive at the end of the season. Whilst I am delighted at the easy win I cannot believe that we didn't go for another two or maybe three in the second half. We completely outplayed Plymouth and didn't seem at all interested in scoring any more.

I don't think it'll come down to goal difference personally. We took our foot off second half, the subs and Farke's dislike of racking up the score maybe played into that.

Game won, Farke & his players thinking about our next game on Wednesday. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 12:37 pm I don't think it'll come down to goal difference personally. We took our foot off second half, the subs and Farke's dislike of racking up the score maybe played into that.
Not conserving energies led to part of our decline last season.

If Farke is telling them not to rack up the goals then he is cheating every single Leeds Utd fan who turn up week in week out. That's the main reason to watch the team play....goals.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 12:37 pm I don't think it'll come down to goal difference personally. Re: Leeds Utd v Plymouth Argyle Match Thread
Dan James said in his post match interview that DF was wanting more from the players in the 2nd half so talk of not going for goals is nonsense, more down to the players than Farke.

Wanting more from players may not mean goals, he is on record saying don’t embarrass the opposition which 5 or 6 -0 could be seen as

I don't think DF will ever say "don't score more goals lads".
That would be bonkers.
But taking the foot off the gas 2nd half is a regular theme under him.
Probably down to his safety first attitude.
I didn't have an issue with it vs Plymouth but it can bite you in the bum.

What did he actually say regarding embarrassing the opposition ? I take it you’re referring to Rutter but I can’t remember exactly what was said. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 2:38 pm Wanting more from players may not mean goals, he is on record saying don’t embarrass the opposition which 5 or 6 -0 could be seen as

Re: Leeds Utd v Plymouth Argyle Match Thread
Found it.
It's important he's not enjoying himself too much, he's relatively young, but also focused on playing pragmatic football. I criticised him a little at half-time but then he was involved with great assists. Once we're in such a great shape, yes enjoy your football but make sure it's not over the line. It should not be embarrassing for the opponent. Handling it with style and class is important. I think he did that today. He deserves all the praise. He can definitely go on like this.”
Don’t see how this relates to not wanting to score 5/6 goals in a game, with Rutter I think it was sensible advice to a young player at the top of his game. How many times have we seen a player showboating & getting kicked into row Z by the opposition. Would DF have loved 10-0 yesterday, course he would.

Like you I think it was solely in reference to Rutter rather than the scorleine. It was in relation to Rutter doing a few tircks/showboating etc and Farke was quite right to tell him to stop that as it is the sort of thing that would lead to an opposition player getting p*ssed off and clattering Rutter, possibly causing injury.
I don't think we took our foot off in away as to not look to score again in the second half. In the second halfwe continued to probe and created a few chances but there was understandably less 'gung ho' attitude given that we didn't need to score. The game was won and we controlled it, didn't allow Plymouth the chance to get back into it, which was sensible given that they had come back from 3-0 down in the last match and a goal might have had them believing, if Journey are to be believed which would appear sensible advice.
Soloman and Joseph certainly looked like they wanted to add to the goals for column. It was hardly like w were forcing their keeper into save after save in the first half. If anything Gnonto's chance in the second half was probably the cleanest chance we created all afternoon.

And all that showboating came back to haunt us in the run in. I don't often agree with Farke, but he was right then.weasel wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 3:11 pm Like you I think it was solely in reference to Rutter rather than the scorleine. Plymouth were just the second team Opta has on record since 2013-14 to fail to attempt a shot in a Championship game.

Greetings....
Just about recovered from the trauma of the weekend and thankfully we have another game to try and put it right.
I write the One Game at a Time preview and review on Pasoti. It is irreverent and green tinted of course but you might enjoy the current one as it reviews Saturdays er, contest ( is that the right word??).
I have retitled this weeks...hopefully just for one game ....

Enjoy the rest of the season....we might play the first team for the home game ( then again so might you

Good luck for the rest of the season but I fear you will be saying goodbye to the championship at the end of it.
