Hamer or Sallai?

Post by Cjay »

Just a little bit of poll fun for the last day of the window :)

Assuming the other 2 deals go through then of these two heavily linked players who would you want?

Gustavo Hamer the Brazilian born Dutch youth International.

27 years old box to box midfielder by trade, he's been used occasionally further forward but actually more often further back in a holding role.

Known for his running power, creative eye and combative nature he is proven Championship quality with 14 goals and 19 assists in his last 2 seasons and a decent 3 goals and 4 assists for am awful Sheffield United side in the Premier League last season.

Likely the most expensive of the pair he is proven class at this level and has the added bonus of weakening a rival.

But isn't a 10 by nature and hasn't ever really played in that role.
Alternative is 27 year old Hungarian International Roland Sallai.

A left footed right winger by natural role he has however played more centrally in the past for club and especially country who play quite a narrow style.

He has even been an occasional striker.

He is a quick technically gifted player with an eye for a goal and an assist. An experienced top level player he has created goals In both of the last 2 Euros and scored goals at the highest level including last season where he managed 4 goals and 1 assist to help Freiburg to the last 16 of the Europa League.

Of the pair he is the more proven player at the highest level and has the benefit of showing he can perform over a number of seasons and in a role more suited to our needs.

However he has never played Championship football so its impossible to know how he'd adapt.
So who would you have?

Both look good players, gone for Hamer, just seems that bit more a game changer.

Gone for Sallai with my 'business head' on.
Looks like he would be the cheaper option, leavings us in a good position to make a profit on him, also already done it at top level.

I went Sallai.

Whilst the joy of seeing Wilder's head explode on national television when he's asked about it would be hilarious.

I think Sallai is the bigger coup (turned down West Ham last summer) and more natural for what we need as well as being cheaper.

He seems two footed and favour his right, so not left footed as i thought

Hamer.
Proven at this level and the fact that Wilder is desperate to keep him proves it.

Unless somebody else is leaving, I don't think we'll sign anyone else.

Farke said he needed a full back and a midfielder. We got both. Then replacements for Summerville and Gnonto. They're not like for like, but we signed two. Aarsonson looked great in the 10 role last week. I'm sure any one of Piroe, Gnonto, or the 2 new signings can fill in there. I like the squad we have. Instead of a new signing, I'm just hoping nobody else leaves.

Went for Hamer but it was the toss of a coin, Wilder swung it.

I’ve gone Hamer because I have seen what he can do and it’s enough to get us up, true successor to Pablo for me.

Having said that, the price is right for Sallai and he’s probably just as capable, just I know less of him.

Either or preferably both would do nicely thanks. Went for Sallai to even up the poll to 50/50!
