Wendies pre match chat

Post by Cjay »

Totally forgot about this thread

We visit Hillsborough on Friday night looking for our first win of the season.

Will we see a change of approach from DF?

Stop throwing poor Piroe in at 10, use Aaronson maybe?

Joseph struggled (all be it very hindered by the tactics) vs Wba, Is his position under threat?

Will Gruev or Amps get past half-way? In fact will the any of the team get past it?

Sunderland showed how to beat Wendies, Rohl likes to be on the front foot, they take risks, we haven't shown much of a press at all recently and our breaks are as dynamic as a snail, but will we look to do that?

Will we try and control the game ?

Anyone confident? Or fearing a Wendies backlash from the Sunderland humiliation?

Wendies had arguably the best opening day performance vs an admittedly poor Plymouth, but we aren't particularly good ourselves so get it wrong and it could be ugly?

Was going to request this thread yesterday but didn't want to appear needy

If we persist with playing Aaronson wide on the left we'll never see the best of him. Whereas if he plays inside Gnonto they could really combine well in my opinion. Unfortunately Farke sees him as Willie's replacement which is doubly flawed as we need Gnonto playing the full 90 mins.

Two more games until the international break so happy to continue with Jospeh up front until then. However he will need to show signs of improvement to nail down that position as his own for the games coming after.

Yep, not a winger for me... needs to be narrower. Probably the best we have to replace Geo as the 10 I guess

With the players we have is Farke bashing a square peg into a round hole trying to fit them into his formation? Should he change things up to fit the players we have?

Well yes, it defines a good manager.

I suppose it depends on how confident he is that we will bring in players to suit his formation. If he feels that we will then it is better to have the formation that he feels will suit the players he will end up having.
I love leeds united, may I never admit to it. :shhh:

He was on the bench for Bournemouth at the weekend so probably not.

No Tyler Adams in the squad so looks like we did good busniess getting rid of him last summer (not that we had any choice).

I would have no objection to that. Think he could do very well for us.

Joseph has had no service last two outings, limited to pressing and putting himself about.

I don’t see Aaronson on the wing either, and Anthony played every game for Bournemouth at the start of last season before coming to Leeds, so being on the bench first game may mean very little.

Drop Piroe & bring in James, with Aaronson playing as a No.10.

Oh no!

So we wait until deadline day for an average winger!

I suppose average it what we are becoming.

James. Gruev. Rothwell. Firpo
——Piroe——Gnonto

James and Firpo as wing-backs, would be alongside Piroe and Gnonto when we’re attacking.

If Aaronson gets the nod over Piroe then he switches position with Gnonto.

Genuinely feel if he hadn’t got injured we’d have stayed up. But yeah, looks like good business getting rid given his injuries since.

We would, Adam.

Tyler was our best player at that stage of the season.
