edit: Yes Prest has fractured his shoulder apparently.
Great spell from Abbott 5 for 25 Dawson 3 for 21, bowling out Surrey who collapsed from 63 for 1 to 127 all out.

Hants 68 for 1 in reply.

Great day one for us against the favourites ...Kyle Abbot became the Rose Bowls leading wicket taker in the process, going past Demetri Mascarenhas

At first glance I was going to say, not one international player in our XI. My chief complaint about county cricket. Surprised the Pakistan series starts so early (tomorrow). And I see IPL is still going. It's disappointing to see county line ups so diluted.

Indeed Andrew.

Root & Brook won't play much for their county from here on.

Maybe explains something of what you posted the other day about YCCC having such bad financials.

Remember the days when great players played for their country and played a full compliment of county games ..

Sadly, yes.

The county game used to be great. Remember Richards, Garner, and Botham playing for Somerset? Remember players finishing a test match and jumping in their cars to go play for their county the same day. Really. That happened. I said it earlier. I loved the idea of seeing Yorkshire play Essex because I'd get to see Graham Gooch. Gower for Leicester, Lamb for Northants. I didn't get to go to test matches. But I did get to see all my favourite players play against Yorkshire. And it was great. Because in county matches you could catch autographs easier. Yeah. I'm sick and tired of how diluted and unimportant the county game has become.

Good start this morning from Hants ... adding 75 so far without loss as we head for lunch. 54 ahead with 9 wickets remaining

And the great start for Hants continues....

242 for 1
Albert 108no
Gubbins 91no

Easy victory on the cards for your boys.

Meanwhile Yorks built on the 300 they had on the board last night making a total of 362 thanks to a half century from our 9th man in Jordan Thompson.

In reply, Northants are 122 for 4 with their first four men out.

We've been here before with Yorkshire as they don't capitalize on early wickets as they struggle to bowl teams out when in the ascendancy.

Albert's debut century in his 6th first class game, last minute replacement for Orr I think who did his back just before the game.

Gubbins also made his century

307-3 - 180 run lead 7 wickets left. Good for cricket as Surrey were running away with division 1 already

As I mentioned above, Yorks allow Northants back into the match, now only 61 runs behind, all out for 301

The Yorkies can't bowl teams out.

Freddie will be turning in his grave.

No doubt, Lyth will be out for a duck, after his century in the first innings.

Two ducks for our nightwatchman, worst bowling figures too.

Dom Leech not having a good match.
