Agreed. Why he simply couldn’t proceed with the open goal opportunity is beyond me. Although I think his touch of the ball was poor and is what really led him to go to ground.

I’ve watched it back of couple of times and ^ looks right to me.Kennyb41 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 10:04 pm I've only seen it once and want to see it again in real time, my first impression was PB knocked the ball forward, then realised he was about to potentially get clattered and went into 'avoid the incoming kick mode, which he did by diving out the way, then realised 'hold on i could claim for this, it looks like he booted me'...and the ref then also thought in real time he'd been booted.
It was a split second thing and instinctive reactions.

Didn't mean to imply right or wrong. Also, think there something to be said per Kenny's post about instinct in the moment.

Messi (Meslier) and Condom? You need to read these before pressing SENDBobHirst wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:17 pm We won but a bit of a worry as QPR are a really poor team and we couldn't put them away. In fact, we were actually a bit lucky that they hit Messi's chest instead of the net in the dying minutes.
The Bamford incident looked like a red card in real time but the slow-motion replay clearly showed that Bamford dived. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some sort of ban for deliberately tricking the referee. (I wonder if VAR would have seen the dive ).
Besides the dive he had a couple of good runs, a decent shot on goal and 2 or 3 fouls for pushing or shoving a defender. I don't miss him. Pascal and Condom were really solid again but in fairness they didn't have that much to do.
I am concerned about Piroe, who is looking a bit lost the last few games.

Good result we needed the 3 points with no excuse against a near bottom team in Qpr. But we still have lots of work to do! The occasional great flair in footballing then we seem to struggle....1-0 not enough rea!ly. I still think that Somerville will be our stand out player this season.
Watched a QPR stream yesterday and all the commentator could say was repeatedly 'Bamford' The cheat. It wasn't a red card but it will be great to have a decent striker back....and hopefully he stays in form.

Looks like the LUTV announcers were right--DF confirmed in his post-match presser that Anthony did slightly roll his ankle which I assume is why he came off when he did.

Poor second-half kicking towards the kop, I can only think of a couple of serious efforts on target from Bamford & James.
We won the game comfortably 1-0, as the hoops were poor going forward, however it only needs one chance or error from one of our defenders & QPR could have gone home with an undeserved point.
Three points is good, but we need to improve our performances after two below par displays.
Weirdly, I have never seen an opposition keeper waste time when their team are 1-0 down, Begovic took his time with his goal-kicks in the second-half often slow to place the ball down to the ground, kicking the posts or pulling his socks up

A dreadful game, played out in a poor atmosphere. I actually got bored at one stage, something I very rarely do at games.
Anyway, a win is a win, hopefully a better game on Saturday.

Paddy wasn’t trying to get him sent off.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 10:25 pm https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/s ... highlights
Watching the Paddy incident back it does seem he was trying to not get the keeper sent off...
He was evading the challenge which was out of control and that might be why he was sent off.
Had he connected it would’ve been hip height.
If the red is chalked off I can also go along with that.

Good spot 64. Yes, I noticed that too. Unusual, no doubt, but perhaps there was method in his madness. As long as the score remains 1-0 he knows that one error, one lack of concentration on our part, which becomes more likely in the final phase of the game when tiredness creeps in, and they are back on level terms. Should they go 2 down before that late phase then the game is up!
They had no intention of actually trying to win the game, which will be the case for a lot of visitors to Elland Road this season, we might have to be grateful for a few scratchy 1-0 wins.
