Breakfast Debate The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 21st July) Speculation intensifies over Nubel deal

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Friday 21st July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Speculation intensifies over Nubel deal

With Karl Darlow expecting to complete a move to Bournemouth, speculation has intensified that Alexander Nubel could be en route to Elland Road. The 26 year old, fresh from his two year loan at Monaco where he played 76 times, has fallen out with his parent club, and looks destined to leave!

It has been reported that the Bundesliga reigning Champions want £8.7m, which, to some seems a lot of money for a reserve keeper. Daniel Farke is currently holding talks with Illan Meslier (and Crysencio Summerville) regarding their intentions this Summer, after which, big decisions will need to be made.

Leeds strike deal with Bluebirds regarding ticket prices

Leeds have agreed a mutual deal with Cardiff City, that sets prices for away fans at the same level for both games.

In just over a fortnight, the Bluebirds (with fans in tow), will make the 500 mile round journey to West Yorkshire to watch their side, pit their wits against Daniel Farke's Leeds. The price of fuel is bad enough, but when you take food and drink into consideration, the cost of following your club around the Championship runs into many thousands, and that's before you even get a ticket.

Leeds have slashed their prices by more than half, on the proviso that when Leeds travel to the Cardiff City Stadium in January, the bluebirds ensure Leeds fans get the same deal. Adult tickets have been reduced from £45, down to £21, concessions have dropped from £31 to £16, 16 to 18-year-olds from £23 to £11, under-16's from £20 to £9 and under-11's from £10 to £9.

Leeds are keen to secure the same deal with the rest of the Championship, which based on the above pricing, could save a family hundreds of pounds over the season. A Leeds statement read...

Leeds United are pleased to announce the club have agreed a reciprocal ticket pricing offer with Cardiff City. The EFL allow reciprocal ticket offers to be agreed between clubs and we will continue to work with all other teams in the Championship to try and offer a better deal for travelling supporters.

As a result of the deal being struck, Cardiff City supporters who travel to Elland Road in August and Leeds United supporters who travel to the Cardiff City Stadium in January will pay the same price for tickets.

Kinnear remains the 'go-to guy'

Anybody that thought, that the takeover would weaken Angus Kinnear's position at Leeds Utd, can think again! In a massive Elland Road shake-up, Angus Kinnear remains the 'go-to guy' that everyone from Daniel Farke to Hannah Cox (head of Admin) will report to.

He impressed 49ers Enterprises President Paraag Marathe during negotiations of the takeover, and also played a big part in bringing Daniel Farke to Elland Road. Kinnear will in turn, report back to Marathe with updates.

Kinnear played a very active role in finalising the post-relegation takeover agreement between Radrizzani and 49ers Enterprises after the end of last season. The US group relied on Kinnear to help get a fresh deal done and secure EFL approval for it. He was also part of the process which led to Daniel Farke arriving as first-team manager two weeks ago.

He has long been the club’s representative at Premier League and EFL meetings, and final completion of transfers and contracts falls to him. While others above him give final approval, he is the person who signs the paperwork off.

In the revised structure at Elland Road, Angus Kinnear is the person who other key figures will answer to in the first instance: from Farke to new technical director Gretar Steinsson, head of medicine and performance Rob Price, new head of football operations Adam Underwood, head of football administration Hannah Cox and interim football advisor Nick Hammond. That tier of staff is managed by Kinnear, who in turn feeds back to Marathe. Radrizzani’s exit has in no way lessened Kinnear’s seniority.

not hearing much news in areas of the pitch we need to concentrate on particularly midfield and strikers, do we still need to sell before we buy seems to have gone stagnant.

Morning all.
Hopefully DF will talk Mes and Cry :duno: (duo name ) into staying, if theyr'e hesitant, get rid asap, we don't want anymore bad apples at the club. We still need a keeper, LB, CMF and CF.

Ticket prices are extortionate anyway not just away matches.

Hopefully kinnel er kinnear might just grow a pair now orta isn't here to bully him around, glad there's others he needs to listen to to sign things off like.

Hope that wasn't too pessimistic ;-)

Summerville, I believe, has developed a reputation for being disruptive if he’s not getting his own way, so if he’s less than fully committed to job in hand then he might not be worth keeping. On the other hand if he stays there is more likelihood that Gnonto will want to stay, so it’s swings and roundabouts, I suppose.

I don’t think Kinnear has covered himself in glory over the last couple of years but having had a boss like the flaky Radrizzani and having had to work with the likes of Victor Orta etc. might not have done him any favours. Hopefully Paraag will get the best out of him.

Good morning EB et all,

IMO if any of these players really wants to leave and a club is interested enough to pay the money we want then let them go, we don't need disruptive players in the camp, our season could go wrong for so many reasons lets not add this to the equation.

We need a top No1, Mess seems intent on leaving and I think a new scene could help him develop, Nubel appears to fit the bill as does a number of others we've been linked with lets get one of them in and then look at other positions, I don't want us going into August feeling Mess is staying only for Chelseeee to come in and nick him on the last day.

Angus is an easy, not too divisive appointment, he's not held in the same contempt as Orta but for me he needs to step up and show he's worth his massive wages.

2 weeks till kick off and we're still talking to players about their intentions or put another way the players are happy to stay unless a money busting offer comes in.

He may well be worth his wages as the corporate /merchandising side of the club does seem to be bringing in a lot more than it did previously.I think the trouble is, where fans are concerned, is that nobody really knows what he does. He wouldn't appear to be involved in player recrutiment and might have nothing to do with player contracts. Those would really be the 2 biggest factors the club has got wrong (after sacking Bielsa obviously).
I love leeds united, may I never admit to it. :shhh:

The only two I'm not concerned about leaving are Costa & Poveda.

For the Championship most could probably do ok,it depends on what money we could get for the likes of Jack if we're currently in a cap in hand situation, Sinisterra is the one i'd most like to keep, then Gnonto and possibly Rutter although i haven't seen enough of him.

Welcome Big guy/gal, do you think Bert should've been sacked ?

For me i don't know what he does so hard to comment, but he must impress so i'm not reet arsed either way, i don't give it too much thought.

For me, there is one guy and one guy only that has ruined us, and that's the fraud Clown.

That is the single biggest thing i've been screaming about for years now, if he was sussed like i sussed him with the signing of Sacko, we might still have Bert here, SO f**k OFF CLOWN AND I HOPE YOU GET f**king SUSSED EVERYWHERE YOU WALK YOU f**king BULLYING SMOOTH TALKING TWAT.

Would be nice to see some more clarity on what the squad will look like

Still a few questions: Meslier, Firpo, Strujik, Adams, Gnonto, Summerville

Would love us to to add a couple more bodies this week so we can start working towards what the first team might look like. But a lot of that depends on the who stays from the group above

The line up against Monaco will be interesting. Should give us some more clues

My impression of Kinnear is that he is an able administrator. And that's his job. To manage the various department heads on a day to day basis. To see to it that the vision of the Club's Chairman and its ownership is carried out. To hold the people that get paid to make football decisions accountable. And mostly to make sure that the Club remains solvent.

But the highlighted bit is key. And my hunch is that Marathe and Kinnear will work together very well.

I agree BHP. I believe that he was the only one that didn't want to sack Bielsa, or was that just rumour? We will find out soon enough what his role is, because I don't think the 49ers will put up with any wasters and don't want to rock the boat too much just yet.

Nobody seems to be knocking down the gates of Elland Rd to take our players and pull our relegation pants down.

Sort of puts our “quality” in perspective
