Re: Junior Firpo
Firpo compared to Firpo had a good game today.
Firpo compared to £13m LB's and other full backs around the country did the job he's paid to do and was bought for ok today.
Nowt to write home about, just a case of - holding your position correctly, timing your challenges correctly, not getting drawn to commit a foul, choosing when to break forward and support play, getting back at the right time, being in the right place at the right time ish,
Now please just get on with proving us all wrong and do what you're paid to do and was brought here to do.
CONCENTRATE ON YOUR DEFENDING AND MARKING FIRST, CHOOSE WHEN TO SUPPORT PLAY AND CEASE AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE SCORING A GOAL, AND DAMN WELL GET A SPURT ON AND GET BACK WHEN WE LOSE POSSESSION !!!
Oh, and watch Robertson a bit at Liverpool, you might learn a lot.
Timing my son, tis what it's all about.

Re: Junior Firpo
Credit again where it's due, Ive long been a detractor or firpo, but 1 game against moan utd and yesterday dosen't make him Dorigo overnight.
Much of his improvement has come down to a few things :
A/ A run in consecutive games
B/ Confidence
C/ The system
D/ Most importantly imo, the defence around him, Wober and Adams, helping him, tracking him, allowing him to go forward and yelling at him to get back.
He's still wayward, but his confidence is now showing and he's actually shouting at other players, hope it continues, we need a LB not a CB filling in.
Well done firpo, get some shots away with thee left foot lad.

Re: Junior Firpo
Why does the defender let it run past him.
Nobody actually cares but that is weird. I watched it 10 times & every time I expect the defender to stick out a leg

Had to laugh yesterday, when we were singing the Klich 20 yards or 30 yards song, with Firpo’s name inserted instead of Klich

Re: Junior Firpo
It was if the Firpo's shot went into slow-motion as the ball bypassed the defender & trickled under the keeper's body, terrible defending, Leeds style in the past

Such a shame you didn't as it would have been the funniest thing you ever said. Now no one will ever know how whimsical you really are.

Re: Junior Firpo
Right now he's probably the best crosser of the ball we have, lovely cross into the box yesterday which came to naught. He's our TAA only a better defender.

Re: Junior Firpo
Thank goodness for the voice of sanity and hopefully we can get this thread back on topic. Jaydog had singelhandedly turned this into some weird sort of audition to replace Bob Monkhouse.

Bob Monkhouse was a better defender than TAA.

Re: Junior Firpo
You might be better expressing your views on Bob Monkhouse with the Grimsby Town fans on Cod Almighty
Tony goes on to express the hope that 'old Bob' Monkhouse won't be a non-League Peter Beagrie. Positivity reigns, though. He could be a non-League Garry Birtles (The only other midfielder signing for Town in the twilight of his career I can instantly recall is Neil Webb, but I have it on good authority that the club has not been purchasing XXXL-sized football kit.)
