Max Dean

Post by 1964white »

Leeds United forward Max Dean has today joined Sky Bet League One side Milton Keynes Dons in a permanent transfer.

The 18-year-old, who has been a regular for the Under-21s over the past two seasons, departs the Whites without having made a senior appearance.

There was a good tenacity about Max. And he always seemed capable of getting a goal. Sorry to see him go. But he was probably a step below what was needed to make it in the premier league- at least for the next couple of years.

Anyone know if we got a fee?

"Healthy sell-on clause".

I wouldn't have sold him permanently, natural goal-scorer.

Slightly surprising to be honest. The fact that he was playing regularly for the under 21s at the age of 18 must show that he had some ability. I wonder if he has seen the strength in depth we (all of a sudden) seem to have in the striker roll, didn’t fancy his chances of ever achieving a 1st team place and therefore asked for a move himself.

Surely a sell on clause would be a must.

With Perkins and Joseph ahead in the U23s, plus Joffey and now Gnonto and Rutter, we are blessed up front. Would have been very difficult for Max to have got a look in.

Personally think he could have gone out on loan. A season of first team football somewhere would have increased his sales value. Of course there's the question of contract. This was his 3rd season with us so maybe it was winding down and he would have moved on for free anyway.

If we didn't get anything that defies our model of signing promising youngsters and selling them at a profit. And Dean certainly wasn't a flop. He did have some potential.
