For all Marsch's detractors, and as you know I'm not one of them, he has produced fight and grit in our players
Surely no one can deny that, James, a bit similar to how Jesse played in his footballing days, apparently.

The last 2 games were a free play as we weren't expected to get anything from them. Nervous about tonight as we have to get something from it.

Hopefully we get a couple of goals and all the parking the bus practice we got in the last two games will stand to us.

We had a habit pre World Cup of coughing up late goals and losing points. Let's hope that's addressed.

My mind goes back to when we had to go and play a Leicester team who were struggling, and look what happened.

I think these type of games are not usually good to us. But im hoping/praying we get a good result. It would do the players confidence a lot of good to get a win, never mind us fans.

Everton who were on an awful run, battered us 3-0, should have been more!

I wasn’t going to be the one to highlight this as it does have a distasteful element to it. But you are only writing what most including myself are thinking.

If ever there was a game this season to use as a barometer going forward for the rest of the season and how it might shape up i think this is it.

We're at home, Hammers are running bad but not a bad side, a draw answers nowt really and will still leave me worried about relegation, we should be winning this and if convincingly it would go a long way to easing some fears, if we get slapped that would worry me to death.

I'm guessing it all got off topic with the fans taking the opportunity to complain about how badly things are going right now.

Can't know what to expect today. West Ham have some great players and are much better than their form and league position.

We've done well against top teams but not done the job against the bottom teams.

Hope for a strong performance tonight. But I'll settle for a bad performance and a win.

Agreed.

A Barometer for sure Kenny. It's the start of a new year. The next 10 matches see us play FIVE teams that are currently below us in the table. Four of the other five are outside of the top six in Villa, Brentford, Chelsea, and Brighton. This is the part of the season that will make or break us. We need to seize the opportunity. I'm looking for at least 12 points from this stretch. And 15 points would be better.

We need a result tonight. A win would be ideal, but a good performance and a point would be ok. More than anything I want to see a progression in our football. I want to see continued tactical evolution. I want to see intelligent in-match adjustments. Those are the things that have Jesse on the hot seat for me.

I will say that I have a good feeling about tonight. Fingers crossed....

Serious question Paul, how have your previous good feelings around our games gone?

My guess is that this game will be decided by a single goal.

Moyes has a good record against us at home. I suspect they will let us have the ball and look to get us the counter when one or the other full backs push up and play into the space. We need to score first and then not give a goal away. Going in at half time with a lead will be ideal for us to go on and win the game. All very easy on paper.

Well, I did think we would get a point at Newcastle Swannie. But then I also felt good about home to Villa and away at Palace and we all know how that went. Probably why I was so pissed off after the Palace match and called for Jesse's head.... :roflmao:

An interesting comparison to how things change in a year. Last year around the same time of year we faced a West Ham who were flying high in 4th place. By comparison we went in to the game with 19 points from 19 matches but with a comfortable gap (6points and 2 games in hand) to the bottom 3. We went to their place with a patched up side, GK Messlier, LB Firpo, RB Dallas, CBs Struyjk and Ayling, DM Koch, CM Klich and Forshaw, LW Harrison, RW Raphinha and Dan James up top, but produced an excellent attacking perfromance to win deservedly 3-2 and pull ourselves 9 points clear of the relegation zone, and still with a game in hand. It showed Leeds at their best, scintillating attacking play and yet also at their worst as we conceded a couple of sloppy goals with our makeshift defence.

What sort of performance will we see tonight? I don't think any of us know the answer to that. Worryingly too is that whilst last year we were hovering around the point per match average the gap to the relegation places was quite big whereas this season the gap is just 2 points.

Which goes right back to these next ten matches to make or break our season. This is where we can control our own destiny and create some space between ourselves and the relegation pack. Time to make a move....

I'm glad we got some defensive help in early this transfer window. We will need Worber to get up to speed quickly over this stretch.

That game wasn't for the faint hearted.
Bowen missed an absolute sitter right at the death.
We did deserve the win though.

Let's imagine they are top team that happen to be near the bottom then 😁

Hopefully the front three of Rodrigo, Summerville and Gnonto can give us a good attacking threat
