I think the signings have improved since the end of last season - and would assume that it's down to Marsch.
And we are not signing any more duds from La Liga.
We should still give Orta credit for some of the good signings. He's done brilliantly with players like Raphinha, Strujik, Meslier. Even some of the youngsters like Gelhardt and Summerville will earn us much more than we paid.
It's easy to say good signings were down to the manager. Heard it several times with Bielsa. There was definitely a change in startegy when Bielsa came from scatter gunned to more focused signings. But majority of signings were down to Orta.
When it comes to JKA, Bielsa is probably as much to blame as Orta. We know that he had final say on first team signings. And we know that he said "no" to several players around the same time. Certainly think the board could have handled the legal aspects of the JKA transfer better. Shouldn't they have forseen today's decision, known we'd have to pay up, and handled the situation better?
It's a bad loss to take. But in the grand scheme of things we still seem much better placed in terms of net transfer spend.
