Re: Manchester City Thread.
City are now unbeaten in 23 Champions League games at the Etihad Stadium after coming from 0-1 behind to win 3-1 with a scratch team though their five subs obviously made a difference in the second-half.

Been following some of this.
Whatever the outcome it is obvious he and his mates, including Grealish live sordid lives.

Have followed a bit.
Very sordid I agree.
I'd be amazed if Mendy is found innocent on everything.
Feel sorry for Grealish's girlfriend to, known to have cheated on her so many times.

Re: Manchester City Thread.
From the bits I read from the case I am not shocked. Admittedly I only read the snippets on the news (unlike the Johhny Depp case which I was able to watch). It did seem that the girls accusing him seemed to be girls who were simply looking to bag a rich footballer and become a wag and it came accross that after having s*x with Mendy and him then not wanting to do anything they hatched a revenge plot to try to make a lot of money - imagine how much they would have made selling their stories if they'd won the case.
I think Mendy's treatment of women was incredibly poor but it is the world in which he, and other young footballlers live, more money than he can spend and women throwing themselves at him.

68 hours of deliberation says it all. I’ve sat on a jury and that only means one thing from my experience. The evidence is hardly going to be overwhelming in that instance

Something I’ve always wanted to do is sit on a jury, but never had the call, maybe they know me better than I know myself
From what I heard on the radio, Mendy is not quite out of the woods yet but it’s obviously a good day for him.

Yes a retrial on 2 counts
Well mine was a drug dealer case. It was clear as anything he was guilty but on the direction of the judge and the application of the letter of the law in terms of evidence it was easy to opt out and say “not guilty”. I didn’t but I understood why you would.
Cases like Mendys are a total nightmare to prove for the prosecution

Many would say different, but I regard myself as of sound mind. I just think I’d be too bias.Jaydog wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 1:42 pmYou seem like a man of sound mind to me.

Any case to do with kids, (mistreatment of), in any way and I’d be sending them down before I’d listened to anyone. Obviously, that’s completely the wrong thing to do and in many ways I’m glad I’ve not had the call (yet), but feel I am missing out on the experience.
The prosecution statistics for rape are absolutely shocking, as you say JD notoriously difficult to prove. It basically needs the accused to admit it from what I can see.

You may enjoy it but imagine getting a financial based trial. I'd be asleep inside 30 minutes and probably not understand a wordBarlow Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 1:49 pm Many would say different, but I regard myself as of sound mind. I just think I’d be too bias.

Good point, but what if you got a ‘good one’.
My cousin was on a murder case a long time ago, she said the evidence they had to look at and review was horrific. The accused got life and as far as I know is still inside. Must be quite a good feeling knowing you’ve played a role (however small) in taking a ‘baddie’ off the streets.

I think they're few and far between, probably whetre you live makes a difference too. I'm assuming the Old Baily draws from London and it's environs ... if your down in Cornwall it's likely to be cheese rustlingBarlow Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 1:56 pm Good point, but what if you got a ‘good one’.

True, I’d probably get a serial shoplifter knowing my luck.
