Quite true, and my post was phrased incredibly badly.rab_rant wrote:
Now that is a quantum leap in logic to believe that Hegel derived his ideas from Marx :-)
Karl Marx was a German philosopher, economist, social scientist, sociologist, historian, journalist, and revolutionary socialist. Wikipedia Born: May 5, 1818, Trier, Germany
Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was a German philosopher, and a major figure in German Idealism. His historicist and idealist account of reality revolutionized European philosophy and was an important precursor to Continental philosophy and Marxism. Wikipedia Born: August 27, 1770, Stuttgart, Germany
What I really mean to say is that imho the explanation of synthesis in Marxist dialectic is the one I find clearer to follow than in Hegel. And yes, I wrote the derivation the wrong way round. My only excuse is that it was (relatively) early in the morning

You got a lot of disposable income then? It costs a lot to go see Leeds nowadays - I went to 4 games earlier in the season and I think the cheapest ticket was £20 in the Kop, and if you were to travel to every away game it would certainly add up quickly.Twiggster wrote:Re your last sentence - if I was able to go to watch United live, as you are...I would be at every game home and away.
Is why I replied to you above on this.
YOU have the possibility to go to every Leeds game. There are many of us on here who live abroad or can not go to watch and cheer on the club we love. YOU refuse to do so.
That grinds mate...especially when you post on here you would rather watch other teams play, instead of cheering on LUFC at any game.
Appreciate the effort you have put in with your support in the past....
I wish I had the means to do it every game. You do.
I understand your point, but a hell of a lot of people just can't afford to go to that many matches, doesn't make them any less of a fan.

Working on Twiggs principle, around 80%-90% of regular posters on this forum shouldn't be posting on here, a very poor first post from him, which I think he now realises.Genghers wrote: You got a lot of disposable income then? Point duly noted... and notice how I used Aristotelian logic to press my argument regarding dates of birth... those being fixed and true, and you deftly side stepped the proposition and shed light (be it particle or wave form ... Quantum theorists can never decide which) on an alternative explanation of your statement which sounds plausible and even valid.Guildford White wrote: Quite true, and my post was phrased incredibly badly.

Think of it like this. It often simplifies matters if we think of them in terms of Right/Wrong, Black/White1964white wrote:This thread is becoming more confusing with each post
when reality should be perceived more as shades of gray.
Let us take Red Bull for example, The newspapers say that Cellio is in talks with them about a take over.
You can regard this as the Thesis
Cellio himself says this is buullshit. This is the antithesis
Hegel would say lets make a synthesis of these two propositions that Cellio is cutting a sponsership deal with red bull and this becomes the new truth... a new thesis, which of course will have a new antithesis which comes from Twiggs that it is all a conspiracy theory propagated by Bates and from that you get a new synthesis and so on and so forth ad infinitum

To answer GW and Rab's philosophical debate, I think this just about sums it up:
"Immanuel Kant was a real piss-ant who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table. ..
David Hume could out-consume Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel.
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as sloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach 'ya 'bout the raising of the wrist.
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, after half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whiskey every day!
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
And Hobbes was fond of his Dram.
And René Descartes was a drunken fart:
"I drink, therefore I am."
Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed."

We don't need to choose because it's quite clearly both particulate and wave form. The photon is a particle, but non-localised; its position is governed by a wave which represents the probability of finding it any any particular point at a given moment. Although what we perceive as the particle could, of course, be nothing more than a specific vibration of a superstring in 11-dimensional space-time.rab_rant wrote:

I think what we perceive as particles and waves are simplifications of what is really occurring. They fit into what we can observe and understand. Quantum mechanics will need to step outside our dimensions to find an answer. That also fits well with the Leeds comparison. We are only basing our opinions on the information we know, which is very limited and probably distorted.Guildford White wrote:We don't need to choose because it's quite clearly both particulate and wave form. Although I think it'd be easier to read a book on quantum mechanics than a book which attempts to understand why Leeds continually f*ck up.

there's a mathematical formula for this, bear with me lets see if I can remember it
TxP=CITSOT
which in long hand is
thread x posters = complete inability to stay on topic...

It already does - see String Theory, Superstring Theory and M-Theory.theleedsmango wrote:

You need to make the quantum leap and not view football
as a game of two halves. That mentality only leads to discord.
