Blackburn pre match chat.

Post by Cjay »

Same as Derby, just played them so not going into detail.

Disappointing defeat to struggling Hull today at home for Blackburn.

Still 5th though with a game in hand on almost everyone.

Don't score many away, don't concede much either.

4 wins
3 draws
4 defeats

They've taken points off many of the promotion teams including us already.

Boro, Burnley as well.

Know what to expect as we just played them, but hopefully we will cope better at home as we usually do.

Sheffield United play Sunderland as well so tough for them.

In terms of ourselves.

Rotation?

Solomon?
Piroe?
Rothwell?

Sorry to hijack this post a bit but am new to the forum. I have a spare Bremner suite hospitality ticket for the NYD game as he can't attend. I am a LUFC member - is there somewhere on this site I can connect with other members to see if someone was the ticket, probably at a discount. Thanks.

The 'A' team midfield/striker will be back in place for NYD after pushing Ampadu out into midfield to accommodate Struijk and giving Ramazani and Joseph a run out. Rotation nearly backfire at Derby....best not do that again.

Our most in-form wingers James & Soloman has to start.

Agree but as we face Hull City away KO 12-30 only 3 days later it's best that Farke makes those decisions.

Also don't know when we stopped having the FA Cup 3rd round first week of January because it's a bit silly moving it back a week.

I wonder if they have moved the cup games back a week so that there is less congestion and teams won't be as likely to play weakened teams. With no game for a week before or a week after will managers really want to rest a lot of players knowing that they then won't have played a match in 2 weeks? In the cup match I can see us having a stronger line-up, even if we do rotate a few players, than we have done in seasons past. Possibly Rodon or Struyjk (or maybe both) getting a rest), any 2 of our 4 central midfielder starting so no weakness there, and 2 of the 4 wingers, probably Darlow and Schmidt getting starts, mybe Gelhardt and Bamford.

Hull City game is a 3pm kick-off, Jammy.

Thanks for that.

I'm away that weekend so will have to rely on the forum for match reports :)

Will be a tough game this onefor sure, we don't like putting our chances away and we don't like to do things the easy way either, blackburn can be very difficult to beat on their day, I wonder if they are last seasons southampton where their manager has the better of us, another hour at ewood park and we wouldn't have scored, cannot see us playing so badly this time around.
I fully expect us to dominate play but they will rely heavily on the low block and dirty tactics, smother us at all costs and hit us on the break and set pieces.

Blackburn have been the only side that have actually bettered us by putting us under proper pressure.

Tactically they got it spot on last time and carved us wide open on the break

Our midfield will need to have plenty of composure in midfield and need that killer pass.

If it was Football Manager I would start Bamford to occupy the two CBs as he is the only one up to it at the club

Blackburn were beaten at home to Hull who would’ve been in the bottom 2 if they’d lost so get the tactics right and there’s no reason we don’t win. First goal is important as usual as 64’ showed with our stats when scoring 1st and we now have enough from the starting 11 and a good bench to take the 3 points.
Prediction - Tough game but comfortable home win and a few dropped points from the chasing pack. 🎉🙏🏻

We play before Sheff U so we could open up a 5 point gap on them before they play Sunderland

Only one point for Blackburn in their last three games.

Won four of their twelve away matches. Eight goals scored on their travels

I'm not concerned about Rovers at our place. Comfortable 2-0 victory, imo!
