Drop Pickford

Post by liggy »

It's coming home
No it's going to Rome.
He subbed the sub so he should bite the bullet and drop the goalie
He hasn't got the temperant and is a massive weak link.
He was like a heedless chicken last night
Kept putting the defence under with his abysmal kicking.
He's s**t scared to catch the fooking ball
You could tell his head was all owa the place.

England have some top keepers
Pickford isn't one of them

I'd rather have fatty foulkes in goal

Have they?

I thought they have the keepers from Sheffield United and West Brom with 1 cap between them. Pickford isn't great, but dropping him in favour of some complete novice for the biggest English game in 55 years seems to be asking for a Robinson/Hart/Green/Carson calamity.

One goal conceded in the entire tournament from a stunning free kick. Yep, drop him.

He hasn't been in the spotlight until last night
He was like a rabbit in the headlights

England's football history features supposedly good keepers brought in at the last minute and having disasters in crucial games, from Bonetti to Carson.

England defence has been as good as any in the tournament

Pickford has been well protected

Maguire shaw walker stones have been top notch
The keeper is a liability

Should have saved the free kick, right down the middle

But one goal conceded and five clean sheets in six!

Mate it was as tucked under the bar as you can get, the only better place to put it was in the corner and he almost got a hand to it. Don't think it's as easy as you're making it sound.

Anyway, I for one have never described Pickford as a 'top keeper' in the first place but I don't see either of our other options doing any better than he did.

I thought he was poor last night, too. Has been well protected by the back four but looks shaky as f**k. It was a great hit for the Danes goal, but it was right down his throat and he should have been getting more than a fingertip on it. No way Southgate's dropping him for the final but he's fortunate to have such a solid unit in front of him.

I did say to Mr Swan just before the bloke hit the ball that Pickford had left a large part of his goal uncovered....and I was right

While I thought this at first, pickfords view of the ball is completely blocked by the English and Danish walls and so obviously won't have seen it until very late and so don't think you can hold him at fault. There was a detailed article on the athletic from a goalkeeping coach why it pickford wasn't at fault

While he's been a bit shaky in the last two games you obviously can't drop him, that would be suicide in the final

He also kept us in it in the Germany game.and other games this tournament with some fantastic saves

Meslier saves the FK, but we don't have a top class English keeper atm so has to start for me...

The saves against Germany any international keeper should be making them
Kaspers schmeichel save from the header was a fantastic save that keeps teams in it.
You want your keeper to come out and catch things
Lead by example be a calming influence.
Southgate is no mug he would of looked at the Pickfords performance and realised he's got a problem .
I do agree the cover keepers lack experience
Which is terrible planning.

If I had a racing pigeon like pickfords flapping all over the place I'd wring its neck

Pickford always looks too short in stature to command his goal.
Maybe he needs to wear some platform shoes.
