Nothing is close at all.
Bit disappointing really given Orta said he wanted deals done by July 1st.
It would be nice to get players in before pre season but we never seem to do that

As teams start dropping out of the euros it might see deals starting to get done and the domino effect - not been many transfers at all anywhere yet.

Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
Not sure where he said that but if he did why is it disappointing?
Not until July 1st surely.
Seriously I think the Euros are the key and depending on which countries players we are interested in will dictate when deals are done.
Do we want players from countries that go out early?
Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
Apart from Villa, has anyone actually signed anyone?

Would just like players in before pre season as Bielsa likes and as the club have said they want.
Really important to start 2nd season well imo.

Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
So according to Graham.
Junior Firpo is likely to be the mystery full back we have been chasing.
Matheus Cunha is someone they like but classed as unlikely.
They are moving closer with a mystery midfield target (but not Nahitan Nandez)
And an u23 signing is on the way.

Tomas Belmonte, the latest CM to be linked. Box to box midfielder from Lanus. He's in Argentina's Olympic squad, so not sure how that'd work with Bielsa wanting signings for pre-season.
Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
According to Graham we have a 3 man shortlist to replace Kiko.
England youth international Freddie Woodman
Kristoffer Klaesson who plays for Vålerenga
And Dani Cárdenas of Levante
Of the 3 id pick Woodman

Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
Woodman would seem a strange one as you'd think he'd want to go somewhere where he was guaranteed games. You'd presume a signing would be back up to Messlier - unless they were extremely good (but in that case we'd have been better of keeping Casillas as back up and loaning Messlier out so he continued to play). Would have thought it more likely an older keeper happy to sit on the bench
Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
The YEP aren't really reliable, the Athletic are more "itk" about transfers these days. If we're looking at young GKs, then I'd rather save money and use Caprile.
I think we should look at experienced free agents like Romero or Carson for example.

Thought i read somewhere that the new work permit regulations made it harder to sign players from Scandinavia but easier to sign players from South America.
Really disappointed we seem to be ignoring the south American market again.

I'm liking the look of Farid Boulaya. At only £4m, not a risk, and he would add some more creativity through the middle
Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
Lewis Bate, 18 year old CM from Chelski, has gone on a Lufc follow spree on Instagram. Hinting at something?
Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
Couple of new links breaking today.
1st)
Sassuolo left winger Jeremie Boga.
24 year old Ivory Coast international, may remember him for being on loan at Birmingham a few years ago when we were in the Championship. Managed 4 goals and 2 assists in roughly 20 matches worth of minutes last season.
Season before he managed 11 goals and 4 assists in 28 matches worth of minutes.
Is known for his quick feet and dribbling ability.
Would cost probably north of £20million.
2nd) FC Midtjylland midfielder Jens Cajuste,he is 21 years old and a full Swedish international. Would cost around £10-£12million.
He is primarily a defensive midfielder and has been a regualar for his club side for a few seasons.

There's been no update on Nandez after Orta was allegedly flying to Sardinia last week to seal the deal.

Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
Fee for Lewis Bate is £1.5m plus add ons and Chelski will get a 20% sell on clause. After a few sessions with MB, he will be worth 10x that haha.
Let's hope he's better than Lewis Baker and Ken Bates

Is Lewis Bate now a done deal? Seems from what I've read this is a seriously talented kid, 'elite level' being bandied about.

Re: Summer 2021 squad and transfer discussion.
Passed medical, announcement Thursday UK time.
Described by one journo who covers u/18, u/23 and the England Youth teams as the best #6/#8 to come through the English youth system in over a decade. Was PL2 Div 1 u/23 player of the month twice this past season and Captain of the Chelsea u/18 side when he was in it.
His passing ability, ball striking and ability to unlock defenses as "unparralled in a competition that features more elite youth than anywhere else in the world" according to this scribe.
Some Chelsea coaches believe he's better than Billy Gilmour.
I expect him to give Shackleton/Roberts windburn and feature pretty regularly as cover for KP, Dallas or Klich.
We now own 4 current members of the England u/19 squad. : Bate, Gelhardt, Greenwood, Cresswell.
