Re: Luke Ayling
I was really impressed with Ayling at Center Back again in the West Ham game, added to how well he played there against Villa. He honestly looks better than Cooper. He reads the game well, has good mobility and agility. I really like how well he moves the ball forward from the back too, quick to move from defence to attack and comfortable on the ball.
He's right footed just like Koch and Llorente but he's got a really good left foot too. Note that his best game against Villa was played on the left side of defence. I honestly think Ayling could play out his career at center back and would excel there. The fact that he's so strong for us attacking from rightback is the only thing that's preventing that. For me, Dallas plays better at RB than he does at LB. Find a natural left back and I'd like to see Ayling play CB full time.

Re: Luke Ayling
He’ll never have an easier game at centre back than he got last night.
He’s always done a good job for us there when he’s been required to deputise for someone.
When he starts to lose a bit of his pace he might move there permanently.

Re: Luke Ayling
I docked him a point for a careless give away in the opening minutes then that kick against Llorente that almost cost a goal. After that I admit he was solid.
Cjay was talking about championship players on the match thread. I think Ayling might still have a couple of good years in him yet. Especially given his ability to move to CB.

Still not the greatest defensively but on the front foot, the way Bielsa likes to play, Ayling has been exceptional this season and he has a nice understanding with Raphinha going. Luke bombs on, whilst Raph cuts in.
Always a mmistake in Bill but he more than makes up for that for me and that captains armband suits him.
