Spooks was excellent tv.
Some of it must have been very close to the truth.

Slow burner the first episode as you become accustomed to the characters & the plotwhiteswan wrote: Just sitting down with a glass of vino to watch the first episode 64. Two, three, four, five and six will follow over the next couple of nights...looking forward to it after your recommendation

Loved Spooks, gutted when it was cancelled.1964white wrote:Just watching an old episode of Spooks....way ahead of it's time

Unlike most dramas main characters would survive a series only to die 2 episodes into the next, you were never quite sure who was going to survive an episode.

The press have been raving about The Night Manager, full pages in some of the papers
Best series on the telly in years. Like a good album or a bottle of wine you need to give it time to mature, this series was a slow burner with slick costumes & beautiful locations cumulating with the tension ratcheted up to excruciating levels. Talk of a sequel
Hugh Laurie played the nasty bit of work superbly, his stare scared the living daylights out of me
Tom Hiddleston odds of becoming the next James Bond have dropped from 25/1 to 9/4 favourite
More more more please :luv:

Re: Anyone watching The Night Manager
Yes! Wow! Just finished episode six. Brilliant, brilliant drama played out by brilliant brilliant actors. Hugh Laurie awesome as was Olivia Coleman (so chilled and relaxed) and Tom Hiddleston was perfection. (Loved the bit where he ordered a vodka martini in the casino...a sign of thing to come for this actor maybe?)
Two gripes! Gripe one! Why oh why didn't the BBC give us a synopsis of what had gone on in the previous episode? They do it with most dramas. We watched this on consecutive nights but still had to run the last few minutes of the previous episode to get back into what had gone on.
Gripe two! The end of an episode, fantastic music, we sit there digesting what we have just seen. Then! within two seconds of the programme ending, some voice comes on telling us what's on next and what's on during the next week. So distracting. People have complained about this but the BBC dont seem to care. It really is so flipping annoying.

becoming a wind up..the worst is with documentaries or lifestyl shows where they show you what's going to happen...that takes 5-6 minutes then theme music and then the doco...ITV do it before commercial breaks for fear people will turn over I guess.
I'm afraid it catering for the lowest common denominator

Re: Anyone watching The Night Manager
Agree faaip. Also annoying is when a programme comes back on after adverts and they recap what we've just seen in the last 3 three minutes! Like you say, usually documentaries or reality TV. Irritating!faaip wrote:

Re: Anyone watching The Night Manager
Actually I turned that off after 15 minutes, didn't warm to it at all. But tbh I find most of today's tv drama's are too long winded, even the excellent Broadchurch was an episode or two too long.1964white wrote:
