Re: January 2022 transfer speculation and squad discussion
We shouldn't be letting anyone go who are on the fringes of the first team because of our rechid injury record and because they are the future of this club....but they need to know that that is exactly what they are otherwise they will be gone .

Angus Kinnear in his programme notes
Naturally, supporters will be looking to the January transfer window for reasons to be optimistic,” Kinnear said in his programme notes for the Burnley game.
“Under the custodianship of Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers, we have never failed to demonstrate our commitment to strengthen the squad in every window
However, we should not underestimate the challenge of securing targets who can meet Marcelo’s exacting standards and have the immediate impact that is required this season.”

The same with Gelhardt and Roberts, but we all know it isn't because they're better players.

Good to see they've already got their excuses. This month will be a write off.
If Orta can't find better players than Klich, Dallas, Forshaw, Roberts etc he should be sacked!

Can't see us getting anyone in who will be particularly useful this season but yes klich and Roberts have to leave in the summer but I'd keep Dallas as a squad player and Forshaw based on his performances since coming back.

He can find them alright .........but he can't get them . He will do the usual , chase someone for best part of the month , get them to the club , then lose the buggers before they sign .

I'd like a CMF or AMF but I won't whine if it doesn't happen.

Foreshaws contract is up soon isn't it? Maybe he's playing out of his skin get to get a new one?
I personally like him, he is a calming and experienced player in the squad. Doesnt do extravagant but does the basics well

Re: January 2022 transfer speculation and squad discussion
Forshaw has done reasonably well since his return and fair play to him, but, to me, he lacks the commanding presence of a real top class midfielder. I think in the long term we are going to need better if we are going to be able to compete in the top half of the table and, for that reason, I’d be slightly more reticent of giving him a new long term contract - perhaps an additional year on his existing one. Whether he would go for that I don’t know but as I say we definitely need better long term.

Thinking about it , if Orta does end up at Newcastle at some stage , with their potential money , he could probably buy every u23 on the planet .
