Agreed, Jesse was talking him up but I had my doubts.

Hopefully he develops into a player worthy of his name.

Defense isn’t simply a matter of the quality of the back four. Much of it involves ensuring the back four aren’t put under pressure in the first place.

McKennie is very good at that and pairing him with Adams would, I think, improve our defense significantly. I hope this happens.

If we get McKennie, I believe it means the 49ers will take over near term (probably Summer). And that we are doubling down on Marsch even more.

Those who say this feels like a marketing exercise, are at least half-right. If I was looking to drum up investment interest in the US, McKennie would be the way to do it. The guy has a 1000-watt personality and I think Leeds are going to quickly become one of the very top supported teams in the US. Fine by me, but how you feel about that depends upon where you sit. 49ers will improve the stadium, expand capacity, and pump commercial revenue, but they are coming as investors not money pinatas.

If Marsch's Littlefinger-ball ("Chaos is a ladder") is here to stay, McKennie would be an upgrade on Roca, if he ends up replacing him (although they could all play together in a 4-3-3). Roca does one thing well (passing range), and looks like he would be more comfortable in slow build up play. McKennie is better at work rate, tacking, heading, goal threat, technical ability, and speed of thought and is very well suited to Marsch's chaos tactics. He also teamed very will with Adams in the USMNT.

That being said, Leeds needs to hold Juventus to a reasonable price (20M-30M).

We didnt start the season with a 4-3-3 but seem to be evolving towards that

4-3-3 does protect the back 4 a lot better. The wider 2 of the 3 midfielders are able to protect the full backs. McKennie (as opposed to a creative 10) is further proof of that

The fact that we're looking at a 3rd big money January signing and are still talking about another defender is absolute proof of that. Radrizzani can't afford this kind of money alone. It has to be coming from extra 49ers investment.

Why would the Gooners want McKennie? Arsenal already have better midfielders.

So they don't rest on their laurels like we did last season and for so long before, hopefully, we've learnt a little and are now building a squad to cope with the demands of the PL,just need the system to work.

At long last, we have smelt the coffee, had we not sat on our laurels when we finished 9th in the PL, we may not have been fighting relegation last season & now.

Covid probably hindered us.

It needs to continue though, lets see how this season goes, we must keep track with the rest of the league if we have any aspirations

A healthy McKennie is a very good player.

Just keep an eye out that he isn't enjoying the Leeds' nightlife, a bit too much.

Hello. This is my first post here. I’m a Yank and Leeds are my team in England. Arsenal is my son’s team. I’m guessing the logic is this - McKennie is very similar to Partey and I think Partey gets hurt a fair bit (relying on occasionally faulty memory here). Anyway, at some point I’ll make a proper introductory post. I’ve been meaning to do it for quite some time.
