For what it's worth Phil Hay retweeted the original tweet from Florian Plettenberg.

He is definitely talented, a quick Google tells you that.

And he is the sort of player fans pay to watch, flair, goes past players etc.

And 3 of Rutter, Gnonto, Summerville and Sinisterra would be a very exciting front 3.

But the problem is the price, its a lot of money for a club like us that can't afford for it to fail.

He is young, he is largely unproven and frankly our judgement on larger money signings hasn't been good at all.

Is he the player we need right now? Is that to much to ask of one so young?

If he folds under the pressure and flops and we go down would that be his fault or LUFC?

To me it's the sort of signing you make as well as an older more experienced option.

But we aren't in a position to do that and he won't get the bedding in period he should because our need is instant

I'd compare it to Fabio Silva at Wolves.

This player is on a par with Joffy, with perhaps a slightly higher potential

So why buy what we already have and rarely use?

Please I hope there is nothing to this story
Definitely something in it.

Florian Plettenberg is Bundesliga news royalty and Phil Has retweeted.

But whether we can agree a price given our proclivity for bizarre add ons (Champions League based) then who knows.

It is the sort of purchase that the top 6 could make.

They would then send him into the Championship or somewhere similar to gain experience.

If Hoffenheim had Joffy would you be happy to pay them that fee?

Unlikely

I agree.

It's the sort of signing Chelsea may make and loan him back to Hoffenheim for a year or two.

It's the club trying to buy potential with a view to flogging him for a huge profit

Is it the signing to make an instant impact as a club like us needs? Unlikely or at least asking a lot.

Look at Raphina, excelling for us, became a regular for Brazil and we got less than £50m. I think for us to get £60M+ he would have to be rvialling Haaland for the golden boot and playing for France.

Comparatively, I'd say not ... if we can buy for 35, get 2/3 years and sell for 50-60...that would be a great profit.

To be fair we have the older more experienced option already at the club in Rodrigo and Bamford if he gets back to anywhere near his best. As such he can be brought in without needing to make the instant impact, coming on as a sub intitially but also to be avaialble if Rodrigo gets injured. At the moment bringing in any striker to replace Rodrigo would be very unfair on Rodrigo and also a risk given the way Rodrigo is scoring at the moment.

We need a striker
We need a striker

repeated ad nauseum for the last couple of years

Now a striker has been linked the mantra seems to be we don't need a striker after all..

We don’t need a striker. It’s official. Unless Rod gets injured in which case we need a striker

We're at the stage where need doesn't really come into it. Fairly sure I read a couple of do we need a left back still posts... We're at the stage where we just add better if we can and continue to hoover up youth talent. Until we're that club that can afford 50-100 M without batting an eye then this is the best way forward ..

I've no clue who or if we'll sign next, and no clue if this genuine or click bait journalism ...

Could be a hell of a gamble being so young at that price. If he came I would be right behind him, personally if I had to take a chance I still fancy the striker from Coventry. But whatever happens I just hope we make the right decision

This is 100% genuine.

Graham at the YEP has confirmed it as has Phil Hay and this guy is Premier League for Bundesliga news.

Still prefer Gyökeres myself.

You can be sure of that? He's 20, great feet, balance, strong, changes direction really well, good in the air, more pace than Rodrigo, Gelhardt and definitely Paddy.

German football expert Manuel Veth gives his opinion.

The consensus does seem to be that clearly very talented but his end product isn't ready yet and it's a significant overpayment for what he is now.

Paying for potential.

I think you can cancel Bamford tbf, he has all the hallmarks of a striker whose body has just given up on him.

Think we did need another option as whilst Rodrigo is scoring at the moment his contribution to the team outside that is non existant, if he doesn't score his contribution is literally nothing.

So it does make sense and also the concern that Rodders has never been prolific so if he went 5,10 games from now without scoring it wouldn't be a shock.

Hopefully he keeps it up though as it's been vital.

Rutter is a versatile player clearly, can play wide (such as it is in our formation) so could theoretically give us an opportunity to drop Aaronson, play Gnonto central in a second striker role and Rutter wide.

It gives us options which I feel we need

And he is totally different to Rodrigo which is always useful

He's a bit more physical, bit more dynamic and crucially for me his ability to go past players (up in the top 10 I think in Europe) would be a great weapon for a team like is that plays on transition.

I object to the price most of all and the concern he is more of a signing for the future than the now (which as a club is a run before you can walk thing).

But hed definitely give us something else.
