Radz was never gonna stay forever, me personally, I'm very grateful for what he's done thus far, very very grateful, got us to the promised land of the PL, anyone who says they'd rather still be in the chumpionship than near the bottom of the PL is just talking nonsense, well, imho.
Europe !! Don't make me laugh, I'm sooooooo chuffed we never got further in Bielsa' tenure when we finished 9th, yea, I was chuffed, but, we dodged a bullet with LUFC written all over it, look at WHU now, in europe, got above their station with limited playing staff, more than us infact, and look where they are now, in the PL, if you don't have the ££billions, you have nothing, but I'd still rather be in the PL, highest we can without getting into a european spot that would send us down the following season.
Another 3 seasons of this I assume to get stability, I don't see a billionaire coming our way either, best thing for the PL would have been to allow the breakaway, then never let them compete in any PL game or cup competition again.

I think he is saying his time at Leeds is coming to an end but not the 49ers and not his time working with them.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 7:22 pm I'm a little confused by all of this. You always have great research and insight on these matters.
The names mentioned are completely new to me
Is he saying the 49ers partnership is coming to an end? Is he looking for a new buyer? Is he looking for others to put in more money and dilute his own share?
Radz fundamentally doesn't have the money to buy and run a football club so he needs venture capital funds to do it.
I assume the "we" Radz refers to is his investment fund (Aser) I think its called.
Radz already said he could veto the 49ers takeover of us if he buys a new club.
But here he is talking about buying a new club with them.
It's an odd one for me.
I've never got how the 49ers intend on making money on us.
The hope for me was they and Radz would attract a new buyer to buy them both out but that doesn't seem to be the plan?

As I’ve said previously his statement raises more questions than it answers. It could be read that both he and the 49ers are looking to pull out. If that is the case then I wonder if they have a buyer in mind or whether we’ll be up for grabs by any old charlatan who fancies his chances for a quick flip.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 9:34 pm I think he is saying his time at Leeds is coming to an end but not the 49ers and not his time working with them.

Depends how you read it.
I'd be surprised if the 49ers Venture Capital fund went as well (delighted) but shocked.

The 49'ers like us are just waiting (perhaps getting desperate) for a big fat billionaire.
In Bert we had someone special that could compete with the big boys on a limited budget, but as was shown, not with the clown spending it.
We are now treading water at best, with the threat of relegation hanging over us continually (get used to it)
We don't have the money but we did have the man.

Hadn't seen this.faaip wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 2:11 pm To be fair, Orta is basically correct in everything he says .... We're probably two to five years behind Villa in terms of EPL foundation. Of course a multi billionaire owner would change that narrative but I get the feeling there's not enough interested Billionaires willing to throw millions at a club for all the Premiership to have one.... and it would probably mean the end of the prem if there were
Villa got promoted 1 season before us.
So they have pushed on whereas we have stagnated?
No other reason they should be that far ahead.
That's sad.

Villa had had top level seasons in the 16 years we weren't in the top division ... That's a lot of TV/prize money we didn't see. We're 2/3 years behind but we're about the same quality, so we've pushed on and they haven't
They've had 13 more prem seasons than us this century, and when the did drop for 3 seasons to the ECL they had parachute payments ....

Villa wasted all that Premier League money and were dreadfully ran for years and years.faaip wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 2:29 pm Villa had had top level seasons in the 16 years we weren't in the top division ... They were on there knees when the new owners arrived and very close to literally going out of business.
All those extra years in the Prem and parachute money counted for very little, they were in a worse financial state then we were when Radz took over.
If Villa are 2-5 years ahead as you say it has nothing to do with there Prem history (they were going into admin in 2018).
It's because there owners pushed on.

I think getting 100M for Grealish may have helped. It allowed them to shop in Fortnam and Masons while we still go to Iceland looking for yellow stickers.

Going nowhere because of Bates asset stripping and draining the club for years!faaip wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 4:51 pm And we were going nowhere, no Rads and we're still probably sitting 12th in the championship with this forum having half an eye on Lg 1 and talk of relegation. We'd have none of those memories of the Bielsa years, of becoming the only team to win at Anfield in forever and other great wins, players like Raphinha, etc.
I'm not convinced by Marsch yet, he's partly there just needs to let go of the football stifling tactics and gamble a bit more. But the optimist in me hopes he can learn on the job...

Radz, thanks for what you have done so far, but if we go down again then it'll be down to you and your cronies. If you haven't got the money to keep us up then sell up. Don't ruin what you have done.

I’ve done quite a bit of reading into Venture Capitalism and have to say that, up to now, the 49ers VC input at Leeds seems very typical.
Main points - VCs come in small and offer assistance, not always financial, to encourage long term growth.
- VCs rarely, if ever, take a controlling share in the company.
- VCs are in the business of making money for their investors by increasing the value of their investment. They do this by buying cheap and selling expensive.
My friends, if we are to rely on the 49ers we are fuffed. Their client is Radrizzani, not Leeds United.

Radz has run his course, but we've no serious suitors, or investors coming in.
Because of that we're trying to scrape by in 17th each season. Which doesn't work as stagnation at this level equals regression and inevitable relegation.
We're stuck with these guys, and their interest is in making a buck, not progressing Leeds United.
