Re: BBC vs MOT Average Ratings.
The BBC ratings are by no means accurate generally, Ian. I have never suggested they are - just that it is a bigger sample size. I was just making a point when I raised what has become Pollgate -that I do not place much stock in who is leading our MoTM and players ratings league. I do not ...

Re: BBC vs MOT Average Ratings.
Surely, Sean's experience will be a massive help to us in the coming months. I would assume he is competing with Gruev & Tanaka for a midfield spot. Absolutely, Amps and Stach are mainstays. BA also plays the central role well and he has been a revelation in the last few months. In the second half ...

Re: Are you confident we'll make another signing in the January Window? - Poll of the Day (28th Jan)
26 No's and 4 Yes's says a lot about the mentality on this forum We just bid a huge amount for Strand Larsen. There's money there. We're trying to sign someone. Too many Nay-sayers here I am not bothered if we get someone in or do not. This window is always difficult for a team in our position ...

Re: Are you confident we'll make another signing in the January Window? - Poll of the Day (28th Jan)
Sterling is an interesting one. A match winner on his day without a doubt, struggled at Arsenal and Chelsea for form and game time. Does he still have the same hunger and desire, footballers by their very nature are inherently competitive he may still want to prove a point. But he wouldn’t be a c ...

Re: Jørgen Strand Larsen- Palace deal done
It all seems very haphazard and unprofessional Dave. We need a striker and go all in for JSL and then can't afford the fee Wolves are demanding. Plan B seems to be the Victor Orta model, where we decide to forget it, then feel the pressure from the fans and charge around Europe desperately begging ...

Re: Jørgen Strand Larsen- Palace deal in doubt
If some fans think our recruitment team are crap i take it they also think players like, Bornauw, Stach, Justin, Gudmundsson, DCL and Bijol are also crap as they were brought in during the summer :duno: It’s not worth highlighting. Some are so judgemental and all knowing based upon seeing someone p ...

Re: BBC vs MOT Average Ratings.
£17M for Okafor isn't big money though as any top winger is £30M plus these days. Even Dan James was £25M and that was 5 years ago. Expectation therefore should be lowered and on that basis he's probably doing ok. Aaronson had one season during which he started brightly, faded quite badly and then l ...

Re: Pascal Struijk
Good point, I suspect many of those votes are fans who are listening on the radio. Lot of guessing as to how fans post on the BBC website. I have no doubt there is some skewed voting but there will be plenty of sensible scores as well. The overall average mark will not be far off across the sample ...

Re: Jørgen Strand Larsen- Palace deal in doubt
There is a possibility Larsen wants to come here and not Palace. There has been no tweets regarding agreeing personal terms with Palace at any stage IIRC. This could go down to the wire and we may get him nearer what we are willing to pay, particularly if he has a relegation release clause ...

Re: Pascal Struijk
MOT ratings. Pascal is our highest rated defender/player in our player ratings, an average rating of 7.6 over the season. Tbf that is on this forum. If you look at a wider sample base from fans after matches on the BBC website they tend to provide a much different picture on players performances ...

Not having key players available always has an impact. The bench is lighter for a start.

Re: January transfers and squad discussion
Yes you are right about Ramizanni, i thought we signed him in 2024 so your comments make 100% correct. However with regard with Joseph i would rather take £5 million for him now if we need the extra funds to secure a new number 9 rather than wait until the summer and what we will get then as if we ...

Re: Arsenal pre match chat
This is my concern after yesterday, teams will be thinking that this is the way to nullify our threat. Worked for Everton. Arsenal will be turning up to win. Arteta will play the same system with different pieces. He has two high level CB’s, that have a great partnership. They haven’t scored much fr ...

Re: Everton v Leeds United Match Thread
Depends on position imo. Holding midfielder, sniffing out danger, Gruev Box to box run around type, Longstaff. He is too light weight. Intelligent positionally and times his tackles well but if a player gets by him he has no power of recovery. I had no problem with his yellow. He had to do that as ...

Re: Everton v Leeds United Match Thread
It's a combination of poise and technique, strikers have it because it is their bread and butter. Stach is actually pretty good, it's just a pity that a couple of our better chances fell to others. It is not easy to strike a ball exactly as you would want to with little time (snap shot) or on the ...

Re: Everton v Leeds United Match Thread
Some players do get a lot of mitigation depending on who they are I agree. I don't rate Longstaff tbh, but I wasn't blaming him for the result just making the point Tanaka wasn't alone. Wrong position, tiring teammates, rusty. AO will come good. Tbh I do not rate Longstaff highly, but he has the ...

Re: Everton v Leeds United Match Thread
Tanaka was poor but he isn't a holding midfielder, never has been. He's also played very limited minutes recently. Classy player Tanaka imo but needs minutes and the correct position. He also had very limited options for much of his time on the pitch as Aaronson and DCL were shagged and offering ...

Re: Everton v Leeds United Match Thread
Playing out from the back, tippy tappy, sitting back etc. We need to be more confident and make them nervous. Once the confidence to play the ball starts to go it becomes contagious. The manager cannot do anything to change that, unless he has quality replacements with pace and technique. Tanaka ...
