Re: O/T: The County Cricket Thread 2010

Yorks - 405 Somerset - 377 Yorks - 154 for 2, Lyth 93, Sayers 12, McGrath 38 no Yorks have a lead of 182 runs Another big score from Lyth scoring 235 in this match, great to have a opener who gets us off to good start at long last, reminds me of the Boycott years Will McGrath build on his innings as...

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

No way, too many. I don't really rate albums, I just know which are perfect for me and hence a ten, and I have a rough idea of my favorite twenty, amongst friends we often have (how shall I put this..erm, lets say drunken) disscussions about our desert island discs, and the reasons for choosing the...

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

The original thread, over on the dark side, was entitled "Which album never dies on you even after 1,000 listens?" That's the criterion I use when I rate an album as a 10. There is a spectrum of ratings and of attitude towards ratings; at one end you have that idiot Inspectah Duck who rav...

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

Into the midnight hour WR & i were discussing the merits of the Bowie back catalogue & continuing the subject of rating albums we came up with about seven 10 star Bowie albums, bring the Beatles, Stones, Dylan into the equasion & i'm sure we'd be looking at around twenty-five 10 star stu...

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

I missed Jools tonight (kicking myself) but I bet Yeasayer stole the show. I well remember their first appearance - took my breath away, as did All Hour Cymbals when released. No doubt someone recommended it way back then. Oddblood is also one of the great albums from the very best of the Brooklyn ...

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

"Gossip In The Grain" is a grower too. It has Ethan Johns written all over it though and the horns detract from the "one man, one guitar" stuff that was the highlight of "Trouble", much as the strings in parts of "Til The Sun Turns Black" could easily have be...

Don't worry about it Tele, you had what i consider at least 6 x 10 star albums in your list, others would disagree as it all down to a matter of tastes :!:

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

One ot two recent posts have mentioned which albumns folks rate as 10 out of 10 which begs the question Do you remember when the music poll started on the dark side, the thread was "Which albumn do you still rate even after a 100 plays" or something like that Can any of you remember which...

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

GW is probably like me, likes to keep that top mark for something truly special and probably quite personal too, I'd imagine I'd also have a stack of 9 and a majority of 7's and 8's It's been done to death but could you whittle down your collection to those 10 "desert isle " discs...WR?.....

I think that is the third time that McGrath has scored a big score one day, returned to the crease the next morning & not added to his total - fine cricketer though
