Re: Boss praises Bromby

He was god awful against Bury (alongside Collins) and fairly poor whenever he played last season. Hopefully last match wasn't just a flash in the pan performance and he can step in and do a job especially with the injuries we have in defence at the moment.

Re: Investment - January approaches

We were looking at signing O'Brien on a year long loan before the season started. A deal like that would likely involve us paying at least some part of his wages. So say we did and signed him on a year long loan paying £10k per week - is he then a better signing than say buying someone for £200k and...

Re: SIMON GRAYSON

Is exceeding my expectations. O'Brien was a master stroke. Goals against is totally unacceptable though. Had we closed out the game 'v' Preston [for instance] we would be really in the mix. I suppose he, like many of his players, is still learning the ropes. I know he's been here before with Blackp...

Re: Student Protests, Sympathy or No Sympathy ?

It doesn't matter how much extra they are being charged as they only have to pay it back if they are earning a substantial amount. This means a lot of the time the grants/loans aren't repaid because idiots are going too uni. Some of the 'student's interviewed were complete idiots just there to stir ...

Re: Student Protests, Sympathy or No Sympathy ?

No sympathy at all. Most students are simply lazy and thick as pigsh*t, just going to uni for the social side of things. Should limit uni places to the top 10% academically gifted in each area.

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS THREAD

If you look at the date on the O'Brien story it shows AUGUST not present time. It would appear we wanted O'Brien in August and wasn't just a knee jerk panic loan signing.

I think DOL deserves a lot of credit for taking George Graham's side and improving it. Many managers have done a lot worse and although he had money and some good youngsters coming through that doesn't guarantee anything. Some of his signings were superb such as Dacourt, Bridges and Ferdinand and li...

Chris Kamara.

Carlton Palmer also gets a lot of stick for his lack of ability but always gave his all for us.

Interestingly around 7 matches ago quite a few fans were suggesting that a manager of a club that had just been promoted but had suffered a couple of hidings should be sacked.... glad they weren't the chairman.

Re: Why Rio left Leeds

What a load of c*ck. Rio left before the financial troubles were publicly known after he declared that he wanted to leave the club after doing well in the World Cup. He said to the club he wanted to be sold. Yes the money then came in handy but was in no way whatsoever Rio's intention. Bless him tho...

Re: Neil Kilkenny

I think a few players have proved 64 wrong and stepped up to the plate this season and shown they are good enough for this level. Hopefully the inconsistency at the start of the season was more down to us having a mix of a few that were adjusting to the new division (i.e. Howson, Killa, BJ Becchio) ...

With the muttual termination we will have no doubt had to pay him a fair chunk of the wages he'd have got if he'd have seen out his contract. Will be saving a bit but not much.

Re: robbie keane

I'm sure when he went on loan to Celtic last season they weren't paying his full wages so wouldn't necessarily rule it out just because of the wages.

I don't see why anyone wouldn't want him back cos he did his best for us and didn't ask to leave.

Re: WHAT NOW FOR ELLAND ROAD

Don't want to p*** on anyone's chips, but why do we need a 50,000 stadium? Cos if we want to compete at the top level (and not simply be a making up the numbers side in the prem) we need as much income as possible and need to be selling 50,000 tickets each home game. When we were doing well under O...

Re: Forest Want Luciano For £1m

Yeah but don't forget that Beckford then suffered a huge slump in form (possibly due to the pressure of having to perform to get his dream move) and was dropped for a few games towards the end of the season. This season has shown we are less reliant on one player for goals and we have Paynter, Somma...

Re: McCartney happy

Note that Andy Robinson when he signed for us rejected wages that would have made him Swansea's highest ever paid player. As such forget about free signing as being free as they command bigger wages and we are probably forking out more for our reserve side's wages than half the clubs in this divisio...
