Ben White's January release Clause

Good Morning. It's Wednesday 30th October, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines...

Costa faces the chop

According to Phil Hay, Bielsa will drop Helder Costa from the starting line up as soon as Pablo Hernandez is fit to replace him. The 25 yearo old is on a season long loan from Wolves with an agreement between the two clubs that Leeds can buy the Portuguese International for £15 million.

Phil Hay wrote: Bielsa agreed that Leeds are missing Hernandez - said Costa hasn't yet been able to replicate Hernandez's talent of drifting off the wing and providing some devilment in the middle

Its fair to say that he hasn't reached managed to show the same kind of performances that were so influential in Wolves 2017-18 Promotion winning side. Is Costa having problems adjusting? Do you think he will come up with the goods? Is he worth his £15 million price tag, or given the option, would you rather have Dwight Gayle?

Ben White's January release clause

It has been revealed that Brighton can activate a mid-season release clause in Ben White’s loan and recall him in January. The 21 year old has been the stand out player for the Whites this season, and losing him would severely dent their promotion prospects. His performances have already created interest from Liverpool, who were said to be keen to offer £20 million for the centre back! If you were in Brightons shoes and you were sitting at the wrong end of the table, what would you do?

When January Comes

Assuming Leeds don't lose any players (minus Jack Clarke who will be returning to Spurs), does Bielsa need to strengthen the squad in January if the Whites are serious contenders for automatic promotion?

Is the current squad good enough for top two? Would they be guaranteed a top 6 finish; we know that traditionally Leeds falter after Christmas? How many players are need, and what positions?

Would you rather see height, or a specialist set piece taker for free kicks and corners? Which current players would you sacrifice in order to bring new blood in?

Our wingers haven't provided enough assists or scored enough goals imo although Bamford hasn't helped their cause
I actually think MB is part of the problem for Costa.

He is trying to get Costa to do what Pablo does, drift all over and stuff. Thats not what Costa does, he seems to be best when allowed to stay wide right and drive at the full back.

Pablo is to old to use pace as his main weapon now so he uses his brain to find spaces, Costa doesnt need to do that.

Pablo wants to get involved in the play and make things happen so he drifts off the wing, Costa wants to get his full back 1v1, different players and MB trying to convert Costa rather then maximising what he has shown he does best is impacting his influence imo.

Pablo wants to play as a 10, Costa wants to play as that inside forward, room for both of them.

I agree on the goals and assists, wouldn't mind the assists so much if the midfield had managed 10-12 goals between them, thats not to much to ask.

But they have only managed 6 and Pablo was 2 of those.

Rather then directing our fury at Bamford and Costa as individuals maybe we should be directing it at Klich, Forshaw, Dallas, Harrison, dont have the excuse of not being adapted but have only managed 3 goals between them in what minutes wise betweem them amounts to 46 games!!!!

Pablo needs players like Costa around him, not plodders.

Imo he is getting overly criticised.

He hasnt been as bad as some have made out imo, he has shown bright moments and deserves time. Still feel the lack of a number 10 is impacting him and if Hernandez was in the side we would see a lot more from Helder. Also tbf to him MB has already admitted the style we play doesnt allow Costa to use his pace as much as he would like. Taking Costa out for Hernandez is the wrong move, play them together. Hernandez needs help to and Dallas, Forshaw and Harrison arent on Pablo's wavelength, Costa may be.
