There were some horrific challenges on our young stars.John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 9:37 pm He was at the center of almost everything positive we did going forward today. He took the beatings they were dishing out and kept moving.
Re: Leeds vs Millwall MOTM
I wouldn’t say he created the first goal. It was a decent lay off to Gnonto, but Gnonto changed an opening to advance with the ball into a piece of virtuoso brilliance.
The 2nd goal is what I would call an assist, brilliant from Geo who managed to break the Tanganga shackles just at the right time.

Re: Leeds vs Millwall MOTM
I am not suggesting Firpo wasn’t decent but what did he do during the game that really stood out. No assists albeit Geo missed a glaring chance. He has the luxury of playing advanced with at least two white shirts with him all the time whether it is Cry and Geo or Cry and Kamara. He just has to be part of a nice triangle and make the overlapping run, which to his credit he times well, but the run is often 10 yards at most. The system is set up for him. Any decent left footed player could do his job.
When I compare what he does in comparison to say Kamara, Amps, Rodon and even Gray, I struggle to understand why some score him so highly.
Oh and he takes throw ins.

His defensive actions were much better against Millwall.DDB220 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 11:18 pm I am not suggesting Firpo wasn’t decent but what did he do during the game that really stood out. Re: Leeds vs Millwall MOTM
I looked at it. Doesn’t change my perspective, incidentally I did not say I do not rate his performance. I just do not rate him as highly as some.
90% of passes he receives when he is in our own half go backwards whence they came. I suspect he is under instruction to just to keep it simple. He is most effective when we are enjoying dominance within a game.
He does make some good defensive actions as do all the other players.
My point was not to down play his contribution- I just do not share the love in for him as IMO the left side is set up to maximise his offensive qualities and mitigate his defensive weaknesses.
It is working at this level and that is what counts, but we all, by and large see a performance differently.

I'm not Firpo's biggest fan, just thought he was better on Sunday, especially defensively.DDB220 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 12:47 pm I looked at it. Doesn’t change my perspective, incidentally I did not say I do not rate his performance. I just do not rate him as highly as some.

Certainly not one for the long term if we have ambitions of becoming a decent Premier League club.

Re: Leeds vs Millwall MOTM - RESULT
After a glut of votes for Rutter & Gnonto in the early stages of this poll, where it looked like Georginio was going to walk it, there were lots of late votes for our clean sheet specialists Ampadu & Rodon, with Ethan almost catching the long time leader.
Our £7m bargain signing in the summer still holds a good lead at the top of the table, all could change in our final eight games.

Geo is my player of the season, followed by Ampadu/Rodon and Summerville. Geo has a big lead though with the other three bunched up
