Ethan Ampadu
Looks like Leeds are in advanced talks to sign Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea.
Ampadu is a versatile player, lining-up at centre back or defensive midfield most often. Olny made 12 appearances for Chelsea but has had pretty successful loan spells at Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia. He's also made 44 appearances for Wales.

Re: Ethan Ampadu
Done nothing special with chelsea, but has plenty experience with wales with 44 caps, as I put elsewhere £12 million is a bit steep considering he's only a year of his contract, no doubt if we don't stump up the cash someone else will, would be typical we'd accept sell-on as well

Re: Ethan Ampadu
One of those players who much was expected but never quite progressed.
Very experienced international for his age.
Seem to remember he's meant to he decent on the ball and at progression.
Not sure whether he is a cb or dm.
But I think I can see him in the KP, Oliver Skipp role.
Given how vital that is ut makes sense for that to be a priority
Decent at half the price but £12mil seems extremely steep.
He's also been relegated 3 seasons in a row which is an interesting accolade

£7m with add ons deal.

Re: Ethan Ampadu
You beat me to it, Brad
£7m doesn't seem too bad of a deal for someone with his experience, especially if you compare it to what we paid for Aaronson, Roca etc...

Re: Ethan Ampadu
He's a much stronger player than Aaronsen, think he will be a deep lying DM though, he's not afraid to get stuck in either.

Re: Ethan Ampadu
He's on 35k at Chelsea.
My spies suggest he is a DC
Where does this leave Cresswell?

Hopefully, still at the club and in with a chance of a starting spot every now and then.

I had him pencilled into my best starting 11 next time.
At least we will see competition for places.

With the American connection i thought we were signing the Indian shopkeeper from the Simpsons. Sounds interesting to me. Versatility, experience of playing abroad, young and hungry. Lets hope its true.

Re: Ethan Ampadu
I’d assumed, following Koch’s departure, that we would be getting another CB which seems to be the case with Ampadu so I had Charlie perhaps third choice.
Hopefully, that’s good enough for him and he gets some game time as I rate him highly, albeit he isn’t the modern ball playing CB from what I’ve seen of him at ER.

I'm under the impression we are signing Ampadu to play as a defensive midfielder, I could be wrong!Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 4:31 pm I’d assumed, following Koch’s departure, that we would be getting another CB which seems to be the case with Ampadu so I had Charlie perhaps third choice.

Re: Ethan Ampadu
Form what I’ve read he can play both CB and defensive midfielder. I’ve everything crossed we still have Tyler Adams as our defensive midfielder.
Either way, nice to have options
