The Angelo is quite bitter which I like as I love pale ale. Wife wasn’t keen but she’s been necking Peroni which is too “sweet” for me.
That's good

Winter must be here. Last week in Sainsbury’s they still had their (excellent) Summer Session Ale on the shelves……however, today it’s nowhere to be seen and has been replaced by their Winter Warmer Ale, which is also top notch, imo :beers:

Drinking this tonight, only one can because it’s 10%, dessert in a can (imperial stout). Direct from the brewery because nobody sells it locally. They do a fabulous kirsch but not in stock currently. I generally stop at 13%. It takes all night to down one of these.

Started off with half a bottle of Prosecco as a chaser😂. It’s a weekend thing. The Little Ale House in Harrogate is the only place that usually has an imperial on tap but it’s about a fiver for a third of a pint! Great pub though.

Ardbeg Uigeadail for me.

https://www.ardbeg.com/en-int/Ardbeg%20 ... 77251.html

Rich and weighty with heady and smoky aromatics. At full strength, the initial aroma is a beguiling mix of warm Christmas cake, walnut oil and parma violets fused with fresh ocean spice, cedar and pine needles falling from the Christmas tree. A smouldering coal fire and the scent of well-oiled leather brings warmth. The sweetness of treacle toffees and chocolate-coated raisins emerge through the smoke. With water, the deep smokiness increases in intensity, reminiscent of a fired Christmas pudding. Rich flowering currants and warm baked banana and walnut bread are served with simmering mocha espresso.
Full flavoured and rich with a deep mouth-coating texture, the taste is an intriguing balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoky flavours. The flavour is initially sweet. A burst of winter spices sets off a smoky-spicy explosion countered by a sumptuous mid-palate of honey glazed smoked food and chewy treacle. Waves of deep smoky tones and rich aromas build up on the palate like a fine Montecristo cigar.
Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones and rich aromatic smoke into the perfectly integrated finish.

I was sceptical, but the landlord seemed keen to get rid of it so I had to give it a go. Fine once you've got used to it.

In that it's not a flavour you usually associate with beer. Pint of Brennan's first, then go onto the smoked stuff.

It's my way of punishing the landlord when he doesn't have a bitter on that I like... by buying more expensive drinks, that'll show him!
