It should be a standard clause in any contract nowadays!

definatly for any younger players you dont want to lose but i cant imagine a buyign club who are taking a 24 yr old off your hands when you dont want him agreeing to a sell on fee

Apparently West Brom are considering buying Tom who is currently rated at £7million according to the Daily Star

Once again if he leaves Sheffield could be yet another player who has gone on to better things.

If he doesn't have a sell-on clause, we know who to blame.

Goes to show we're fairly s**t at judging who's good. Never understood why he was. lets say under rated, here. Always looked quality to me.

Looked error prone and like the pressure bothered him to me, but he was very young indeed.

Colin called him out and many took the bait.

Young players make mistakes, part and parcel of their development. Where Lees suffered was Colin making him scapegoat and an 'astute' section of our support turning on him. We're blessed with some fans who wouldn't know a player if he kicked them in the nuts and ownership who play to the gallery. I'd have Tom Lees ahead of Bamba, Cooper and Wooton any day!

Warnock ruined Lees, he'd shown a reasonable amount of talent before then. As with many young players, Byram included, they often go through tricky spells but its about nurturing them through it and taking the pressure off. We failed to do that, he went to Wednesday for a fresh start and thrived.

I'd have him over Wooton and Cooper.

so we should nurture young players, but dump the young players we have now?

Making an error or two in front of your fans doesn't help, being openly blamed in the Press will certainly put a huge hole in a young player's confidence.

What?! When did I say that?

I said I thought Lees was better than Cooper or Wooton, I didn't say they should be cast aside and chucked on the scrapheap.

I still don't think Lees is good enough for the premiership although there are no great/outstanding centre-backs at the top level of the British game, you only have to look at our England CB's. Some of the defending is as diabolical as i witness in the championship week in week out, so on second thought Lees could play in what is a inferior premiership nowadays
