I doubt any of our players could have predicted the winner CatMuppet the Cat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 8:51 pm In a way it’s better when we don’t know (pretty much) which album is going to win before we start and it’s a closer run thing

Re: Album of 1966 - NOMINATE NOW
Great year for albums. The Who released "A Quick One" and Otis Redding released "Dictionary of Soul."
"Pet Sounds," "Revolver," "Freak Out," and "Blonde On Blonde" are all amazing.
I'm going to nominate "Face to Face" by the Kinks.

I don't own any from this year, never have owned any from this year, and never listened to one of them all the way through
so no nomination from me...
so no nomination from me...
Re: Album of 1966 - NOMINATE NOW
'Revolver' is a splendid album & will be my firm favourite to win this poll imo!Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 9:25 pm Not so sure 64
Probably between Revolver, BonB and PS. But Revolver isn’t even my favourite Beatles album; I don’t own any Dylan album and the only vote PS would get from me is ‘most crap LP cover of all time’...........so who knows
I nominated the gorgeous 'Pet Sounds' as it is in my top ten albums of all-time. I know not everyone enjoys PS which is the Beach Boys Sgt. Peppers according to many music critics. Brian Wilson's classic work requires a few listens, one of my desert island discs. Love it
'Blonde On Blonde' is a Dylan classic & will do well even though there are some folk who can't stand Bob's music

Indeed John, a splendid year for us oldiesJohn in Louisiana wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 2:38 am Great year for albums. The Who released "A Quick One" and Otis Redding released "Dictionary of Soul."

Beach Boys, Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, Cream, Donovan, Dylan, Kinks, Mama & Papas, Mayall, Love, Redding, Simon & Garfunkel, Nina Simone, Stones, Who, Zappa & more....
Makes years like 2015 look distinctly average!

Re: Album of 1966 - NOMINATE NOW
Yardbirds - Yardbirds aka Roger the Engineer also high on my list, all JB guitar work o that one
Donovan's Sunshine Superman I like a lot, The Monkees debut, S&G - Parsley Sage Rosmary and Thyme,
There's an under rated album from Paul Revere and the Raiders called Midnight Ride. 13th Floor Elevators too
Wilson Pickett challenges Otis Redding for Soul Album of the Year
Buffalo Springfield, Tim Hardin and Phil Ochs for the folk crown
Good year all round but 67 is better

Don't forget East-West by the Butterfield Blues Band.

Have 3 from the year.
The Blues Project - Projections
The Standells - Dirty Water.
Nina Simone - Wild is the Wind.
Also like the 13th Floor Elevators, Nick nominated in a previous poll.
Will have to be NS
