Tips for visiting Leeds

Post by DutchLUFC »

Hello all, I am a dutch Leeds supporter who currently has’nt visit Leeds united at Elland Road. I have been to Newcastle united- Leeds and Fulham - Leeds since Londen and Newcastle are easier to travel to from Eindhoven.

I am traveling to leeds 18th of april and want to attent the match against Wigan 19th of april. Since I never been to Leeds and Elland Road I have no idea on which hotel to book, which pub to visit and what stand to get tickets as well as getting tickets, which is currently much harder.

I was hoping that fellow Leeds supporters could help me with getting this information.

Welcome :) :)

Always nice to see our supporters from overseas

Having said that, i am of no use to you whatsoever

I dont live in Leeds, havent been there for a while, so i cant help really, sorry. :(

Had a Google, some very nice hotels that are 1-2 miles away from the ground apparently, some luxury ones

Or they are probably quite expensive so maybe.

But i dont really know tbh, someone who does will be along soon hopefully.

I know a few Norwegian Leeds fans and they always stay at The Marriott in the Centre just off Boar Lane.

You should definitely look at the city centre hotels but it depends on your budget. Also worth remembering that it’s Easter weekend so prices may be higher than normal and availability could be an issue.

My past 2 times i stayed at the Ellington(Jazz theme) and the Rad Blu in the centre which serves 2/3 of a pint which pssd me off!

I woul dstay in a flea pit though if i could see the mighty Leeds!

Hi Dutch as said there’s plenty of hotels in and around Leeds all depends on your budget, plenty of pubs, clubs and gentleman’s bars as well again depends on your tastes, budget and if the wife’s with you or not ;-)

There’s a PremierInn within a 10mins walk but with it been Easter Weekend probably expensive but you can walk to the ground and two real Leeds pubs the Drysalters and the Peacock which is directly outside the ground

Thanks for all quick responses. I think the pubs and hotels tips are allright. For the ones who wonder if i bring my wife, ofcourse she isnt allowed to come. I will be in Leeds with one friend who is also a Leeds united supporter. We always go to our own away and home matches( I’m also a PSV supporter).

I haven’t got a membership card, is this needed to book any tickets? and if what membership (silver, gold or platinium).

Is it allowed for season ticket holders to book any extra tickets for other non membership fans?

I’m looking forward to have boozer and wetting ones whistle in peacocks or drysalters. What time do you start drinking some
Pre match beers? If anyone recognize me in peacocks or drysalters, the first one is on me🍻

your best bet dutchy is club together to buy one gold membership which are 40 quid just over 13 pounds each if three of you ! ( you allowed 4 tickets on one membership ) yes a rip off but unfortunately you will need one to purchase any tickets from now on in .
i do recommend east stand upper blocks L38 to L42 padded seats ! A right ba***rd of a climb mind but once you up there its a great view and its all down hill after :)
if its atmosphere you seeking and not bothered being surrounded by absolute loons than the cheese wedge is the place . like a zoo in there without the cages :) :)

If you are looking for something cheap and cheerful then I would recommend the Discovery Inn, not really hotel more like a guest house (B&B). Very reasonable and next door to a nice pub called The Scarborough, also close to the bus for Elland Road. If you prefer a proper hotel then I would go for the Marriott.

Gino Di Campos Italian in the city centre is brilliant. Good food well priced and the service is excellent.

Welcome Dutch, hope you manage to get a couple of tickets.
Plenty of pubs, clubs and bars in Leeds.
Personally i prefer the good old pub!
Plenty of those, I'd recommend the Ship, Whitelocks, Pack horse and the Templar.
Taxi to Elland Road and try and get in the Peacock.. it gets busy!
A few beers in the Peacock again after the match, taxi back to town, jobs a good one.
Hope you have a great time mate..

Was hoping to get over for Wednesday game. Tickets not out yet but I need to move soon on the flights. So I need to purchase membership before I am allowed to buy a match ticket?

Is that correct?

Are there ticket touts operating at El? Or Ebay even?

Just wondering what the most economical option is...
