He's got 40 goals and 17 assists in the last 2 seasons.

More chance of him repeating than Perkins going from second division u21 player to Championship top striker in an instant.

Liam Delap was top scorer in the top level of U21 football few years back with a much better strike rate than Perkins at a higher level.

He's managed 4 goals in 20+ Championship games since.

The step up is huge.

Extremely huge, Cjay.

Our U21s were getting smashed by League One/Two teams in the EFL Trophy.

We should definitely be targeting Gyorkas, some club will snap him up.

Shouldn't this be in the Coventry thread?

Thank you :)
Well you lot got your wishes ;-)

The individual club threads have been well-supported by several members on here, so I'm not going to discard them now.

You only have to read them to see all the effort & hard work I've imputed into those topics, they are also very informative for our members & have kept MOT busy.

Doubtful, judging by the amount of insults I get....... but it makes sense. The premiership isn't our division anymore.

Maybe he has these attributes at U21 level against inferior opposition but against much better players in the Championship would be asking a lot.
He might get a chance and prove us all wrong but i doubt it.

Have to be careful about being realistic about our young players.

As you say they were getting smashed by league 1 and 2 teams and were playing 2nd division U21 football, they weren't even playing the most competitive teams at that level.

1 or 2 may be good enough but chances of 4, 5 of them going from u21 football to promotion chasing Championship football is practically 0.

Gyökeres is likely above us now but I'd hope we are targeting the best of the Championship

Need to get a move on, kicks off in 40 odd days.

Lot to be done in a very short space of time.

Well we were playing 2nd division U21 football, we weren't playing the best u21 teams in the country.

And we were knocked out of the EFL trophy group stage in a group containing 2 league 2 teams and 1 league 1 team

The league 1 team beat us 3-0 with twice as many shots whilst leaving out key players such as 1st choice keeper and top goal scorer.

We had people like Drameh, Gyabi, Mcgurk, Perkins, Joseph, Robles, McAlmont all playing.

Still easily brushed aside.

I think the Premier League individual were great....when we were in the Premier League. I suppose some of us just aren't bothered what's going on at those clubs now we're slumming it in the Championship :(

I know how much effort you put into those topics Leon. Well done

Championship debate 23/24

Post by Sara »

For general discussion, teams, players, transfers, results, events, etc.

I've lost touch with this division in our three years away... as I also had very little knowledge of the Premier League before we joined it.

Dan James got the first for Wales as they went down to a shock home defeat to Armenia (2-4)... they look to have a very nice player in Ranos
